I sent in my C&R application on 10/1 and called today to check on it. The lady said it was pending and it could take 90 days. I asked if there was anything wrong and she said "No, its only been 30 days". So I said "It could be anyother 2 months?" and she replied "Yes". Sounds like they are delaying for the sake of delaying. What a crock o'shite! How long does it usually take? |
| I mailed mine on Sept. 20 and received the license on Oct. 2. That's 12 days including weekends. Did you forget to include a tip? Just kidding. I think that chick simply didn't want to bother checking. I've done quite a few SBR's lately. Perhaps they used the background check from one of them? I also live in Atlanta, so mail is only a day each way. |
| Don't worry, it will come on a random unexpected day because you will wear yourself out for calling in. For me, it was like is it here yet is it here yet is it here yet for the first month and then I got over that. One morning about 2 months later, la de da checkin the mail checkin the good ole' mail BOOM! *key halleluja music* |

From what I've heard, it varies quite a bit by where you live. Here in NY state, it took the full 90 days. After a month and a half, I called just to make sure they had all the info they needed, and was told it was still be processed. Keep an eye on them though, I just filed for a change of address, and called after two months, and was told they changed it, but apparently never sent the new license. After that, I had it in two days. They are always very nice at least! |

the problem I have is that they are violating federal law if it takes longer than 60 days. And apparently, there are alot of people that wait longer than that time period. Why is it that some people get them in a week or two, and others take 3 months? When I called 3 weeks ago, I was told that they are waiting for my background check. You cant tell me it takes a month to do a background check! "The Attorney General must approve or deny an application for a license within the 60-day period beginning on the date it is received. If the Attorney General fails to act within such period, the applicant may file an action under section 1361 of title 28 to compel the Attorney General to act. If the Attorney General approves an applicant’s application, such applicant shall be issued a license upon the payment of the prescribed fee." here is a link to the section of code about FFL's; http://www4.law.cornell.edu/uscode/html/uscode18/usc_sec_18_00000923----000-.html |
Got my address-changed license today. I swear as soon as I bitch on ARFCOM about how long it takes, the ATF always immediately delivers. When I was waiting for my initial license, it came 3 days after I complained on here about how long it takes. Same with the address change. |
