I'd read good things about Classic Arms and their Mosins in particular, so freshly minted C&R in hand I faxed an order to them on Sunday. I detailed the rifles that I wanted, broke down the prices, attached a copy of my C&R, and gave a phone number for them to call for credit card info. Didn't hear anything from them yesterday so I called today. They couldn't find any trace of the fax (it transmitted without problems), didn't have half the rifles that I wanted even though they show them on their website (which was updated yesterday), and the woman who answered the phone couldn't have been less helpful or cared less. No axe to grind here it was just an incredibly poor experience with this company. I always take the time to compliment vendors online when they do a good job, so it only seems fair to report the opposite. YMMV. Edit: title edited for fairness after problem resolved. |

Believe me when I say this, everyone who has ever called up there and talked to that woman feels your pain. I can't remember, but I want to say that the man you want to speak with is Ben. Someone else chime in if I got his name wrong, it has been a few months since I have ordered from them. Once we have established who you need to ask for, I'd just call up there and speak with him for now on and it should work out just fine. As for the website, its layout and design has remained identical to that for years. Every time I get on their site it reminds me of the internet circa late 90's. I definitely think that a redesign and improved organization is in order. |

Ben even stated this summer he would have other people running the show for him on specific days. So the woman you talked to may have not of been his wife, and he might not even have been there himself. He is a bit slow with updating everything at once on his website, but there are not too many days that pass without everything getting a face lift. So whatever they have that you do buy feel confident it will be delivered to you as described on his website. And as the other fellow said, if you don't like the lady who answers the phone then ask for Ben. |

Calling Classicarms and dealing with Ben is the best experience I've had so far. I have talked to the lady there and while polite, she wasn't too excited about helping me. I've also had a good experience in talking to people at Aim and Sog, though I don't thing the guy doing the handpick at SOG looked at anything when I ordered my M38 handpick (the bolt had rust on it for one thing). |
