Bought my first milsurp riffle today. 91/30 made in 1943. Figured it was a descent deal ($100) for not having my C&R yet and being able to handpick out of about 75-100. Bore was SPOTLESS, no real dings/nicks in stock, a few wear marks though on metal most likely from storage my guess. So....how did i do??

Looks great! Not a bad deal at all. Around here they average about $89.00 but it all depends on your area I guess. Let us know how it shoots of course. I've go the M44 and it's a blast to shoot. Loud as hell, kicks like a mule and can scare the pants off anyone standing near you. Great rifles IMO.

You'll have more very soon Go buy some ammo while it's still cheap! AIM surplus has some pretty good deals on Hungarian light ball.

You did fine.  With a C&R you could have saved 20 or 30 bucks, but no biggie.

Nice rifle.  Whatcha gone shoot in it?

That is the best rifle you will ever buy for $100.  I have a few and I like them all very much.  Do yourself a favor and buy a bunch of ammo now before the price goes higher or the supply dries up, I just got a couple cases from AIM.

shot 10 rounds or so at the house tonight of some cheap ammo i picked up as well. Im assumming its the corrosive stuff since in was wrapped in papper and 1.99 for pack of 10. Used Ol Painless' cleaning technique to make ecerything purdy again. GOOD LORD IT WAS A BLAST!!! Wanted to get a m44 but didnt find one. Always next time

Nice rifle!  91/30 is next on my list..so my m44 and m38 won't be so lonely
good sized fireball when fired at night out of the 44's and 38's, don't know about the 91/30's...yet.
buy up some ammo like has already been mentioned and have a BLAST!

I already have my 91/30 and my M44 should be here on Monday or Tuesday from Wideners. What about the 38? I know it doesn't have the attached bayonet but what else makes it different from the 44? I may have to get one.

Ya done good, C-Man  ! !

A hundred bucks ain't bad at all -- do to the fact you were able to hand-pick the rifle.  Even though I have my C&R I'll still pay a little more at the local toy show if I want to hand-pick my new toy.

Right now there is some really nice Hungarian light ball on the market.  And I still like the Albanian light ball too -- makes the BIGGEST fireball  !

After you get a can or two of ammo better start looking for the Little Brother to your 91/30 -- a M-44.

M-N's may not be the fanciest C&R rifle out there, but they're cheap, ammo is about 9 cents a round, and they go BANG every time.

What more could you ask for ? ? ? ?

As others said, you will find yourself addicted to Mosins.  Many more will follow you home!  For the best shooters, look for a Finnish M39 or M91.  My M39 is the best looking of all my Mosins.  The Finns didn't use the red shellac on their rifles and the M39 has a pistol grip stock.

very nice. I am interested in wood textures and I see some interesting pattern in that one groove there under receiver. Oh heck going to get crap for not knowing what that is but oh well.

I think you did real good there.  These are fun rifles to shoot and some are darned accurate too.  Best sight picture of any milsurpt I have ever shot.
