I noticed that the cocking piece of my Yugo M48 Mauser is slightly tilted up from alignment with the rest of the bolt when it is cocked and the safety in the off position. When the safety is in the middle or right position, the cocking piece seems to be aligned with the rest of the bolt. I'm just wondering if the "slight upwards tilt" is normal for the cocking piece when it is cocked and the safety is in the off position... or if the cocking piece should be perfectly straight relative to the rest of the bolt. Thanks ahead of time! PS: The cocking piece is also known as the cocking sleeve to some people, I'm not sure which is the correct terminology. |
| I haven't noticed what you mention, but I did shoot mine for the first time over the weekend, and I noticed the safety bouncing a bit when I fired. I think it's like tangeant said, everything works like it's supposed to, they just don't have the tight fit that you see in a K31 or an '03, for example. But still fun to shoot! |

Thanks guys. I think the firing pin has a tiny bit of room inside the cocking piece which allows the cocking piece to tilt a bit up or down. Functionally, everything works like it should (safety, trigger, etc). While we're on the topic, do you know anywhere I can buy a cocking piece for my Yugo M48 Mauser? The only guy I could find was selling them on ebay. If you know anywhere else, let me know. |
