I was just given what appears to be a rather small Nagant rifle. The stock is stamped "CAL 7.35" It has what appears to be an opening for a very small magazine (Like .22 mag size) and on the barrel the marking read: 939.XV Gardone V? (Crown) with FE under it It also has a under folding bayonet. What do you guys make of this? Thanks in advance for any help. |

Thanks I just looked that up on surplus rifle and thats what it is. The gun is in remarkable condition except that its missing its magazine. I also identified the next one I was going to ask you guys about that he gave me. Its a Schmidt-Rubin 1911 carbine also in real good condition, only the stock has been sporterized. But all in all pretty damn good for gimme's, and he sent an old flintlock to top it all off. |

Mannlicher-Carcano cavalry carbine. Fed by an en bloc clip that is retained in the magazine until last shell is ejected. To the best of my knowledge, there have never been any Nagant rifles. The Mosin is sometimes called the Mosin-Nagant even though the Russians did not call it that. If it is 7.35, it may have the boxed SA on the left side of the barrel shank. Does it have 7.35 stamped at the rear sight? Is it a fixed or adjustable rear sight? |
