The best way is to look for a SA in a box stamped on the reciever. There are other things, but this is the easiest to find.

Can yo upost picture of the reciever and rifle? That should clear it up quick.

If it's a Tula it should have the "SA" stamp if it was used by the Finns.

Other things that a Finnish used Tula rifle might have are sling swivels, a finger-jointed spliced stock, etc.

Is it an M91 or an M91/30? What year?

I believe all Finnish Mosin Nagants use Russian receivers.  I think some they already had, some they captured and many they bought from other countries that captured or bought them from Russia (Austria for example).

Finnish M91s and 91/30s often used the original Russian barrel, but sometimes they were replaced.  I believe most or all of the other variants (M27, M28, M39, etc) used Finnish barrels.

Like tep0583 said, the most obvious indication of a Finnish rifle is the boxed SA stamp.  Follow this link for everything you ever wanted to know about Finn Mosins.

Yeah, definitely a good deal. It still could be one of many different models even with that sling swivel. What's stamped on the barrel shank?

I mean the barrel shank back by the receiver -- where it goes from octagonal to round (that's the barrel/receiver joint).  Right where the "SA" is stamped.

If it has a "VKT" or "T" in a triangle then it's a Finnish-made gun. If it's Russian cyrillic writing, then it's a Russian-made, Finnish-captured gun. Also, the date will tell us a lot.
