| Is the m48 100% compatible with 98 parts? I'm mainly looking at aftermarket triggers and LER scope mounts. |
|
NO. I'm not sure what fits and what doesn't either. Two items are for sure different. The bolt body and the stock. A more normal K98 is a lot easier to customize. Dennis Jenkins

The M48 is an intermediated LR, everything will fit expect for the bolt firing pin, spring, and extractor. Everything else will fit, scope mount, peep sight, barrel, safety, triggers, and you might get away with using an firing pin spring from time to time. Also you can use an M96 Swedish mauser trigger guard in place of the M48, but you will have to make the trigger hole long toward the back. Bob the nailer |
| I was browsing the net a few days ago, and someone elsewhere stated an opinion to the effect that they would stay away from Yugo M48 Mausers. That was all he said. Could someone explain why he might have reservations? Also, are there any turned-down bolt Cech Mausers? |

I'm not sure why anyone would say to stay away from them. I have seen no real safety concerns other than a few incidents, but that can happen with any surplus weapon. The m48 is a nice shooting rifle and you can find them in excellent shape for decent money. They are not true K98 type rifles as was stated above. I have never been a big fan of the rifle having owned one for almost 20 years now. I will always take a nice K98 over it when shooting 8mm. Yes you can find a few Czech rifles with turned down bolts, but to my knowledge they are not original except for the k98 mentioned above. |
