I've been looking for a scope mount for my M48 for a while and found this one: M48 Scout Scope Mount I want to turn my M48 into a scout rifle and this mount may be just what I've been looking for. The questions that I have are: Anyone have one of these ? (the scout mount 1/2 way down the page) Any recommendations on optics for a mount like this ? The rifle was NIB and it shoots great. The sights are OK but nothing to write home about. Once I get it set up I want to work up a load for it. ETA: Found what I was looking for Scope mount article |

I have an S&K Scope mount that was designed specifically for an M48. I liked it a lot. Traded in the rifle towards a 1903a3 and the guy did not want the scope mount with rings....he just wanted to keep it original. Paid $70 for mine. You can have it for $45 free shipping if you want it. |
| My Iron Elite mount arrived yesterday. I installed it today. Very easy to do and it seems very solid. It looks like it might be time consuming to get the scope zeroed with all the adjustments on the mount itself. I need to get taller rings for it the ones that came with it are to low for my scope causing it to touch the mount and not fit into the front ring all the way. Overall seems like a decent mount if you want to check it out. |
