I'm looking at a friend's Ballester-Molina, and the recoil spring plug is damaged from firing it with a very weak spring. Is there a preferred "standard weight" 1911 recoil spring that works better than other weights in these guns? Is the only difference in the recoil spring plug (Ballester-Molina vs. 1911) the cosmetic circular serrations on the end of the B-M plug compared to the typically checkered basic 1911 plug? Thanks... |
| Standard weight is 16 lbs. When going to heavier springs, it's recommended that the firing pin spring also be replaced with a heavier one. I'm pretty sure the plugs are interchangeable with 1911 parts. I had to replace the recoil spring in my Ballaster Riguad since it came with a collasped spring. Got it from Gun Parts Corp. for about $5. It's a standard Series 70 recoil spring. P/N 229160F. |
