OK, I made a booboo.
I bought a C&R firearm on gunbroker.com.  I pulled open the handy filing cabinet to remove a copy of my C&R and signed it.

OH crap, it was the original!!!!!!!!

How do I get a new copy from the ATF???

Their website was put together by someone with AADD who had too much caffine.

There was no citizenship form.

These pics represent the entire package I received from the ATF (plus a receipt merely stating what they sent).

I received this package last week (I had requested it approx 1.5wks before that) and it is labeled:

ATF Form 7CR (5310.16)
Revised May 2005

in the lower right hand corner.

Photobucket automatically resizes so it may be a bit difficult to read.

I hate to ask questions that may have been answere already, but here goes.

Do they want my CLEO's department address or his personal home address?  Logically, I guess it wouldn't matter, but this is the Federal Government we're talking about...

Also, I can't remember my apartment number for one of the two apartments I've lived in over the past 5 years.  Should I just give the addresses of the apartments and not mention an apartment number or what?

I would be willing to bet it would be his official business address.

So I'm turning 21 in a few months and thought I'd get all the paperwork ready to get a C&R license.

My question is:  Do I need to order 2 copies of "F 7CR (5310.16) - Application for License (Collector of Curios and Relics) Under 18 U.S.C. Chapter 44, Firearms" from the ATF Distributing center, or do I only order 1 and make a photo copy of it to send in to my CLEO?

Also:  I was going to order the C&R book/packet from RK Enterprises but their website is under construction.  Can I order it from the phone or should I wait until the website is back up and running.

thanks ahead of time for the help.  I really look forward to this.

It is a two part form, you only need one. As for the bound book, I was going to order from them but I just downloaded pages from someone here and printed them out and I use that. Total cost, three dollars for a binder.

Paperwork sent!

The payment just went pending!  That's two days from mailed to pending!  W00T!

Just got it in the mail today (10/18).  That includes two weeks sorting out a prior "misunderstanding" from my teenage years.

Looks like you either get it back in 3 weeks or you might as well forget about it for 6 months or more.  Mine is at 4 weeks and counting so I figure I won't get it until next year.  Until then I'll just have to be satisfied with buying the weekly special at Big 5 Sporting Goods.

They wasted no time dinging my CC though; like the day they got it.  It's the only thing the Fedgov is efficient at, taking your money.

Sit and spin, sit and spin.

UPDATE
Received today 11/20/06. Came home to a nice surprise in a blue envelope! Not bad, just about 2 months given the fact that I live very close to Chicago.

The disparity in turn-around time by the BATF is stunning.  It took them two months to get the "official information" packet to me, and here going on two weeks later I still haven't recieved the actual license.  I guess I should have put a "C" note in with my license application if I wanted to get it the same year I applied.

The answer generally given around here is that your CLEO is the head of the law enforcement agency that would show up at your door if you called 911.

on the New application that I got,

10-c) Are you in possession of valid hunting licence or permit alwfully issued in the US ?

I dont not have a hunting licence but I am able to puchase firearms by using my Maryland Police Training Commission : Firearm safety training course
Cerfication of Completion.  will that be jusfity enough for that since i have bought several firearms without issues.

if so, Great and the ATF shall see my paperwork :)

Are you required to have a safe, or do the firearms just have to be secured? (like a cage or chainlock?)

Ok, stupid question:

Do I send the CLEO form after I get the approval back from the ATF or do I just send it out when I send out the app?

I sent the forms at the same time.  You are sending a copy to your CLEO as a courtesy in case he is aware of any legal reason you can not have a C&R FFL.

I saw mention of a compliance check by some and not others.....is this for a full FFL or just the C&R?
