I saw these listed at SOG's website.  Part of me is thinking that it'd be almost foolish to pass it up, but part of me is thinking to spend a little more and get one of the refinished ones.  Does anyone know if these $40 specials look like they've been dragged behind a tank, or are they in decent shape?

My brother-in-law has one. Not too bad actually. I'm waiting for my C&R, and a 91/30 is first on my list. If they still have the 44's for that price, I'll get one of those too.

I checked out SOG's site. Pretty nice. Couldn't find out how much shipping was though. Anyone?

Also found aztecguns.com/

Some pretty good deals, ends 2-13-04.

Cole distributing (www.coledistributing.com) has M44's for $45, and it in cludes the sling, ammo pouch, and cleaning kit, which SOG does not.  You also can handpick for an additional $10.  When my C&R shows up, I plan to go that route, as I have had good luck with Cole Distributing in the past!

Hmm, I might check out Cole instead.  Thanks for the tip!  I'd check out that aztec thing, except I probably can't get my C&R to them fast enough.

I recently bought both a Russian and a Hungarian from SOG at that price.  The stocks on both are well worn, some small repairable cracks, both have several gouges and dings.  The Hungarian only had blue left on the magazine where it's covered by the stock, some blue on the receiver, blue on the metal covered with the stock.  The Russian had about 80% blue left on it and a few small burrs on the rear of the receiver and on the front sight.

They both shoot fine, nice truck guns.  If you're looking for a project then they'd be great.  I paid a total of $91 for both with FedEx ground shipping.

I decided to drop my C&R in priority mail, and hope that it gets there before the sale at Aztec ends.  Hell, the sling alone would probably cost $10 at a funshow... for $10 extra, I get a refinished rifle as opposed to no blue, plus the oiler and ammo pouch.

Now, for the next dilemma... who has stripper clips?  I can find good deals on ammo all over, but no damn strippers!

edit: nevermind, loads of them on ebay.

I just got two M91/30's from Aztec yesterday. One hex receiver Tula and an Ishvek (sp?). Both are outstanding! But do yourself a favor and ask for a handpicked bore. Both of mine are a bit dark. I'll run some bore cleaner in them before I shoot them.

Not sewer pipes, but they are well used.

Here in Indy one of the local gun stores has many C&R rifles. M44's are $45, many still have the SOG tag on them so presumably that is where they come from. They have several racks of other things like Mauser, SKS etc, etc.  They honor the C&R license as well.

Not a mail order type place, just a regular gun store.

The M44 I got From SOG looked like it was dragged behind a tank for 200 miles. I sent it back!
