Looking for some help putting a price tag on this rifle. It's a 1980-81 Winchester 9422 XTR. Appears to be high gloss walnut, gorgeous wood. No rust. Rifle is in excellent condition with only one extremely small white mark on the butt stock.

Can't help you with the price, but that is a beautiful little Winchester!

Last one I came across for sale at the LGS was a little more beat than yours for $699, it sold in less than a week.

I was hoping it would be worth closer to a grand. The prices on gunbroker are all over the place.

List it for $1K and see what traffic you generate. If not, lower the price. What one wants and one receives are 2 different things. It being a Winchester you might get it or real close, looks like a clean rifle..

Can you check completed auctions, to see what they've actually sold for?

I'd keep that puppy for myself.

That's a possibility too, its value will surely only rise.

What someone will pay varies, avg, at shows and shops I see is $600-$800. However not all those sell for that, IMO $800 is a lot. I haven't seen any sell for that only list for that, last gun show I was at a nice clean one like yours was $700. cash tax included and it didn't sell.  I have a 44mag model in great condition and have been offered $700-$800 for it, but it wasn't for sale.

Interesting.  I had an early 9422 XTR with no checkering.   I didn't think they put any checkering on them in 80-81.

I got $250 for that one.   Well it was a couple decades ago when I sold it.

I wouldn't sell that one for less than $750

Does it have USRAC markings on  the buttplate?   I think the checkering started shortly after they took over.

I would keep it, you will never see such a high quality lever action (possibly any rimfire action) ever made like that in this country.   Only the FN subsidiary in Japan can make stuff like this anymore, but who wants a Japanese made lever action...
