Mueller APV was once the darling of rimfire shooters.

Max cost $250

Mueller is about half my max which I really like.

I have a Vortex Viper which I love, I wonder if the Diamondback or Crossfire II series has nice glass?

I don't have any experience with the Vortex scopes but a lot of guys have shown pictures of the crossfire 2's with foggy lenses. The Diamondback models seems to be solid.

If you look around at reviews any of Nikon's prostaff or P-series rimfire scopes get amazing reviews.

The Mueller is a fantastic target scope, and have a proven track record.

I think the Vortex 2-7 and 3-9  would make a better all around scope for a rimfire. I have a handfull of the Crossfires and Crossfire II's and they have been great and are backed by an excellent warranty.

I wanted a inexpensive scope for my Remington 700ML and ordered a Crossfire II from Cabellas and the ocular lens was cloudy and objective lens had a smug on the inside, sent it back to Cabellas and recevied a new scope with same problems. I contacted Vortex and they had me send it to them and when it was returned to me it was clear. It was a quick turnaround from Vortex and no hassles and with a lifetime warranty I'm not to worried
Nikon scope on left Crossfire on right.

Ever tried a Hawke 22 scope? I have one works great $140.00 from Midway. Clear, good adjustments. I am trying the range finder in next few days based on their free software download, put in power level, bullet, velocity, etc and gives you site in and where to aim.

I have a Mueller APT on my Mark 2 TR and a Nikon P22 on my 10/22. Both are solid scopes for the money. I like the Nikon for doing some plinking at steel and the Mueller works pretty nicely to stretch the range out on my Savage.

I prefer the APT over the APV. The mil-dot really is nice when you want to do hold-overs.

I love Vortex scopes but all my rimfire rifles get Nikon Prostaff Rimfire 150 BDC scopes.  Either the 4X or the 3-9, which is my preference, with the BDC reticles are hard to beat, especially with the Nikon Spot On ballistic calculator app.

For $160 you can grab a Primary Arms 4-16 Mil-Dot scope. Mine is just as clear as my ProStaff and you get way more features for the money.

I like the APV on my .22's. Great scope for the money.
