I just acquired a Remington Model 12 .22 short, long & long rifle.  Looks to be in good condition.  Its a pump action .22 with a round barrel.  By the dates on the barrel (DE) I date it at Sept 1936.  All that is on the receiver is Model 12  with a serial #840903.  It has a 21" round barrel and has a Lyman rear sight.  Any info on this rifle would be appreciated.  Also, what price range are these selling at.
Thanks,
Mike

As an alert that does not answer any of your questions, I'll caution you that, if you are not already aware, do not shoot high velocity ammo in the Remington Model 12.  The bolt lugs will eventually crack.  (The Model 121, which replaced the 12, has a more robust bolt design.)

From what I've read over on the Rimfirecentral.com Website, Remington Forum, 1936 was the last year of the Model 12, more or less.  You appear to have an A level rifle, which is typically the lowest value variant.  Condition of the gun is very important.  As there were over 800,000 Model 12s made, many are still around and the ones that were not abused get the premium price.  The Lyman rear sight (Model R12) is a definite plus.  By themselves, a Lyman R12 in 'as new' condition with mounting screws can sometimes fetch over $300 on eBay - just depends on the condition and the bidders at any given time.  Gunbroker typically has a dozen or so Remington Model 12-A rifles for sale at any given time.

Best of luck, and enjoy your rifle!

Thank you for the info on the ammo.  I am in the process of cleaning the bore (looks OK).  If you had not informed me I would have shot my high velocity 22lr.  Thanks again for the valuable information.  Mike
