Hello.
I purchased an H&R m12 for a great price.
I am hoping to join the local 22 offhand league this summer.

I am told the league has shooters shooting all makes and models.
Bone stock hunting rifles to full out custom anschutz rifles.

I got the H&R cleaned ap.
The action is  smooth.
The trigger is crisp.
I made a hand stop to help with elevationand balance and could probably compete this way but 1 last touch would be the cats a$%.

Anybody have a suggestion for a butt hook that might work or fit.
I am hoping to pull this off with very little stock modifications.

I am probably asking a miracle answer but any suggestions would help.

Thanks Pat

If no one here is able to give you a good answer, which I cannot, check out the CMP website. They sold those rifle a few years back so I'm sure there wold be others with experience and ideas with/for the Model 12.

Try the forums over at rimfirecentral.com.   Gunbroker is a good source for parts. But not comprehensive.

Good rifle btw. Very underrated

I had an H&R M12. Pretty heavy piece for offhand! Bought from CMP, loved it, was stolen almost ten years ago.

CMP sold out of them, so I bought one of their Kimber 82Gs a couple years ago. Actually two Kimbers, one for me and one for step-son. Great rifles!

I already had a Remington M37 Rangemaster, which came with a Freeland Classic buttstock hook (picture below). I never use the hook since I shoot only prone or bench. The hook mounts in a standard Freeland tongue-and-groove buttplate ("Guide Plate"), which adjusts vertically. I could easily part with the buttstock hook if you're interested. Would not include Freeland Guide Plate, since I use that for mounting a 'straight' Freeland buttplate on the M37.

The Freeland Guide Plate mounts with two wood screws to the butt. Available from Champion Shooters Supply, New Albany, Ohio.

Thanks for the offer.
I purchased a Freeland hook off of Ebay and just spent a few hours trying to set it up for easy adjustablity and tear down and transport.
Miserable _ failure on my part.
Came to AR-15.com to calm down.

I am going to get a few wood screws and try to attach that way.

If that dont give me what I want I may reach out to you.
I found the guide plate at Champions Shooter $50.

Would there be a way to turn the hook on the guide plate.
Shooting of hand - I coach and like to have the hook tured ito the body.
