I was hoping you all would be able to help me identify what year this rifle was built.  My Grandpa gave me his Fathers .22 today and I really want to know how old it is.

Here is what I know.  Its a Western Field .22.  It has an Octagon barrel and on the barrel it says 22 short long or long rifle.  The serial number is located on the receiver under the barrel and it is 119506 K  Other than that I only have these pictures which aren't the best.

Oh nice!  Thats it.  The markings on it are a little different. Mine just says "Western Field" there isn't a model number and it doesn't say Wards.  I wish I could find the year with the serial number.

Are there any markings on either side of the receiver?

It looks like a Remington model 12.  If so it would have been a Westernfield branded rifle made by Remington for Montgomery Wards.

The only markings are an EXTREMELY faded Western Field on the receiver and I just found a Z on the bottom of the trigger guard I guess you'd call it near the butt stock.  I also cleaned the gun and found a matching serial number on the bolt carrier.

Here are a few more pics. I am guessing my Great Grandpa drilled these holes to mount a scope?

and the Z I was talking about

I was able to get a pic of the Western Field.  It is not that interesting but I am stoked I got a pic because it is so hard to see.
