Hey all,
Decided to go with the ARF majority and purchase a Savage MKII FV-SR for an accurate bolt action .22LR. I have the rifle on the way, but I want to purchase some extras to make this a solid shooter. Here is a link to the rifle I purchased: FV-SR The following part is where I'm looking for your advice. I'm thinking of purchasing the following: Boyd's Tacticool in black. Anyone have a link for my model? Can't seem to find a painted stock when I search for it. The DIP Bottom Metal & Trigger Guard Leupold Low Mount Picatinny Rings Weaver V16 Dual-X Reticle Harris HBRMS Bipod So...there it is folks. My tentative rifle build for the new few months. Any thoughts on the items I plan on using? Will all of these work for the rifle? I don't have the best track record when it comes to online shopping and often times order parts that don't fit my model. Thanks for help fellow shooters! |
Im in the process of doing the same myself now. I actually have 2 now because a local shop had a package deal with a HTA Guardian suppressor for about $100 more
Curious to why youre getting quick release scope rings? Are you going to be changing optics often on the rifle? I went the Mueller route on my optics due to the great reviews here and the awesome pricing. Probably a little overkill but I like it Mueller Scope Boyds stock for MKII. Mine came within days of ordering. Boyds Stock I put a Blackhawk Sportster bipod on my MKII FV and its been solid and no issues. Blackhawk Bipod |

My mistake on the QD rings. Meant to post this:
Leupold Standard Picatinny Scope Rings Thanks for the catch. I'll have to look into the Blackhawk bipod. As for the scope, I have read great things about the Mueller on here as well, so we'll see what type of spending mood I'm in when I go to purchase the scope. Best of luck with your build! |

Pretty stoke to do it, plus with having 2 I'll be ok if I mess up
My reasoning on the Mueller scope (beyond the great reviews) and the Blackhawk bipod was the fact that the recoil is so minimal that they werent going to take the same beating as if they were on a 308 or a 7mm. Plus it freed up some cash to buy other items for the rifle |
| If you go with the Mueller scope you will not be disappointed. I have one on my cz 452 ultra lux. nice glass for the price. I got a savage fvsr it is a very nice rifle. have not made any changes to it. I have a Sightron scope on it and it shoots great . good luck on your builds. |

Again I would recommend going with the Mueller option for scopes. You have click adjustable turrets on the Mueller and a mil-dot reticle. And unless you only shoot at the zeroed range your are going to need to adjust the cross-hairs to get the most out of the rifle.
Also consider getting the 20 MOA rail from DIP if you plan on really stretching the legs out on your new toy. you run out of elevation quickly with a .22. Mueller I used Burris tactical rings. They work like rings are supposed too and you save a little money. Enough for two extra mags.... And This is what I wish I had put on mine before I painted it. |

I shoot mine most at 50 yards, seems like a decent range to test accuracy and ammo. If you shoot at 100 yards wind can start to mess with the round alot more than is apparent with faster heavier cartridges. Not that I am discouraging you from shooting at that distance, just be aware of what the wind is doing and how that can effect apparent accuracy.
