I just picked up a new 10/22 tactical target. I looked all over before I was finally able to find one,
Now I need some glass. I have been looking at the Nikon P22 anyone have one of these? Any other better options in the 180 - 250 dollar price range? I would like to shoot paper out to 200 yards with this rifle. Thanks |

I'd be interested to see how well you shot out to 200yds. I'm not saying it can't be done, I'd just like to see what kind of bullet drop compensation is used, what type of ammo and scope etc. I find 100 yards is my max with any kind of accuracy. I kick butt at 50 I have a 3-9x40 mounted on my target rifle and a 4x32 on my stock model and I actually shoot better with the 4x32 on the stock rifle. My target rifle came with a 3-9x50 Bushnell 3200 Elite which I promptly put on the EE because it was too much scope for this little rifle. Great scope but HUGE! roy d...anyone else shoot well at 200yds? |

I don't shoot at 200yds, but this is the scope I have on mine, and it works very well.

For around 300 you can get a Weaver GS Tactical @ Midway (if it's $400, wait until they have it on sale for $300). mil/mil adjustments and it tracks well.
That would be for 50-100yd shooting. For 200 yards, I'd plan on spending 2x-3x what your budget is, and something with a lot more magnification. I won't try to lecture, but 200 yards is quite long for a 22LR. At a 50 yard zero, you're talking 100 clicks to 200 yards. For most low-end scopes, you'd need at least a 10moa riser, if not 20. Really depends on how much internal adjustment there is. Also wind will be your biggest enemy. A 10 mph crosswind is going to wreck your day. The stock barrel for your rifle is probably not the most accurate thing in the world. |
