| Thanks guys, most of the time building this one came from all the hours I spent checkering and rubbing out the finish. Richards did a good job inletting, fitting and glass bedding and putting the ebony tip on went pretty quick. One thing though, the curved Neider butt plate was a bitch! This barrel loves Wolf Match, it averages between 1/4" and 3/8" at 50yrds on 5 shot groups, thats off a rest on my good days! LOL |
| I learned from an old gunsmith, he got his formal training from P.O. Ackley at the Colorado Trades Instute back in the 60's, he was a gunsmith for the Army's rifle and pistol team for a few years. I grew up next door to him and basicly lived in his shop during my teenage years and was a premanate figure in the shop until he retired. He ran that shop out of his basement for just over 30 years. He taught me pretty much everything he knew including checkering and finishing. I built my first custom rifle under his supervision in 1979, it was a 98 Mauser, I wish I still had the rifle! |
