I'm looking for a scope to go on my new Savage Mark II. Currently it's wearing my 10/22's sweet 22 scope but I want something a bit better. I like finger adjustable windage and elevation but I don't like the drum drop compensator of the sweet .22. It just doesn't match up with the drop of my 22 enough. I definitely want something at least 9x max power (variable power scope) and would like to be able to adjust the parallax down to at least 20yds or so. There's something about zooming in on a squirrels head at 20yds for the kill shot. I've looked at Midway's rimfire line-up but nothing has really jumped out at me. I would ideally like to keep the price at or less than $200 but might pay more if the scope warrants it. Thanks for any suggestions.

The focus down to 20yds issue won't matter if you keep the power under 6x or so. To zoom in close at very high power, you'll have to pay $$, with most of the rimfire AOs that focus close, other than the Mueller APV and the Simmons 22Mag 3-9x32mmAO, running over $200.
Just around $200 is the Weaver rimfire classic "RV9" 3-9x32mmAO model . Also, for $189, you could get a silver finish Clearidge 3-9x 32mmAO model that Clearidge currently has on clearance. It's a LOW built scope that's basically a Weaver RV9 with the same resettable turrets used on the Bushnell 4200 6-24x scopes. I have one that is about to go on an Anschutz sporter. It's a very nice, very clear scope. |
I second the Mueller APV 4.5 -14 x 40 AO scope from Gun Kings, who is a site sponsor here and has the best price I could find to boot ($129.95 with sunshade and free shipping in black or silver)!
