So i have an opportunity to buy this rifle.

My question is if this rifle is really worth the price i see going on auction websites. I see auctions with bids from $500-2200.

What is this worth in decent working shape as pictured?

Don't worry about the bid prices, look at the selling prices instead, IMO.

Colt's are funny animals on worth. Something as small as an inspector's stamp can make it worth another $100 sometimes. I'm not knowledgeable enough to give an accurate number value for you, sorry. Someone should be along who will though.

What are you looking to do with the rifle? If you are looking to make a quick buck, then look into values. If you are looking at it for a fun plinker, figure out what it's worth to you.

"decent working shape" can be a bit tricky for Colt Lightning .22 pumps......they frequently have terrible bores, and rough internals......

Like the posters above said, are you looking for a shooter, or looking to turn a quick buck?

Collectors look for high-condition guns....like 90% +...anything else is a 300-350 dollar shooter that no one else will have at the range that day........

Just my opinion though

eta: a quick search of completed auctions on gunbroker shows 2 guns in "shooter" grade that actually sold.......both look as nice/ nicer than the one pictured.......400.00 and 430.00
