I bought an aftermarket one when I accurized my 10/22. The aftermarket bolt catch, despite it's reportedly "quality manufacture" gets stuck like that all the time and I cant close the bolt. It's maddening. I am experiencing what you are describing but this is with the OEM Ruger one.

Is your bolt being held open when it is that far down? Have you done the 5 minute file job to make it an auto bolt release? |

It's maddening. I had the same issue. After smoothing out the angle on the upper back of the device it started working properly. I'm referring to the spot where the bolt butts up against the hold open device when the bolt is in the open position. It took me a few times of light filing and testing to get it right. I didn't want to take off too much at once. |
