My local shop has a nice looking Rguger 77/22 with scope and walnut stock. Just looking for some opinions/feedback on this gun.
Also looking to possibly putting a finned and threaded Tactical Innovations barrel on it and would appreciate any thoughts.

I have that exact rifle I bought new in the late 80s early 90s I forget,it is a very nicely made and elegant .22.They are a little pricy though, and if buying new today I would buy a CZ to fill that niche.

Just like the 10/22, out of the box accuracy will probably be dissapointing, and in order to reach its full potential Barrel/Bolt/Bedding work will be neccessary.

I believe the new 77/22s have threaded barrels which will complicate barrel swaps.

I have an integral suppressed 77/22.....made by TBA Suppressors.  Sweet gun and whisper quite.  Part of the reason I went with the ruger is that it takes all my 10/22 mags.  Also looked at a CZ452.....but the Ruger won.

I have a stainless all weather 77/22.  Love it.  Mine has the iron sights, as well as the scope mounts.  I simply use it with iron sights...it is quite accurate even with irons.

Whoever here said a 77/22 or 10/22 isn't accurate is nuts.  I have a 10/22T that will shoot into one ragged whole under a 1/2 at 50 yds all day...it is boring to shoot since it is that accurate.

nothing wrong with 77/22's or 10/22's...

Whatever, but the day a 77/22 or 10/22 sporter does 1/2" at 50 yards with zero modifications,is the day hell freezes over.

my 10/22 Target with Leupold 2x7 rimfire does it ALL Day.  Fajen thumbhole laminated stock, free float barrel, factory 10/22 target barrel with spiral twist...boringly accurate.

10/22 are easy to set up.

My 77/22 is my squirrel gun...again...boringly accurate.

sorry but you must be running into either a run of bad rugers, bad ammo, or poor marksmanship.

my 10/22 drives my shooting buddies nuts....have won quite a number of shooting bets with it.  they don't bet anymore

What price?  I have never found one for a good deal.  I went with a used CZ Varmint.  When the 77-22 came out, the gun mags raved about their accuracy.

I have had one for at least 25 years. It is very nicely finished and is very accurate. I wouldn't buy a 77/22 to mod extensively. If I was going to do that I'd buy a 10/22.

I beleive it is $550 with the scope( a cheap one as I remember) and maybe a sling(I can't remember)

This is a used one so I don't know what year it is from. Looks almost new.
Still looking for feedback on Tactical Innovations barrels. Thanks
I believe it was priced at $550 with a scope and maybe a leather sling.

Thanks. Just wanted to swap barrels so i can put on a supressor.

Buy the CZ 16" with threaded barrel for your sup. You'll be much happier.
I shoot a 77/22 in a local league. The CZ is a better buy. If you want to trick a rifle out, the Ruger is the ticket.

The sub MOA Ruger rimfire that still uses the factory chamber/trigger/bedding,and headspace is rare.Even though yours is mildly modified it is surprising that it shoots this well with the sloppy factory chamber,
