An Armalite A7 Explorer marked "patent pending". Any info on this marking? Serial # 68xxx.

Patent pending is a common phrase. I think it just means that there is a patent on said item.

Patent Pending is a marking that can be used when you have a provisional patent application in.  It should only be used for a 1 year until a non-provisional patent is filed.  Once the non provisional patent is approved then it should be marked with the patent number.

If the marking is correct then the rifle should be from the first year or two of production on the Armalite AR7.

Armalite produced the AR7 from 1959 until 1973 when Charter Arms took over production.

The Armalite and Charter Arms AR7's did not come with a scope mount on them.  There were some after market scope mounts that replaced the side plate.  But your rifle appears to have a scope base mounted on the top of the receiver.  Will it still fit into the stock?
