Can someone with a 10/22 and tech sights help me with a question? For whatever reason, I like the idea of having iron sights, and the chance to also mount a scope. Since the tech sights have aluminum bases, and are easy to cut, what if I drilled and tapped and extra hole, closer to the aperture, so the peep sight could have another mounting point. Then, trim back the base of the tech sight, so I can fit a picatinny rail on one of the rear holes, and the forward two mounting holes. Then I could have my iron sights, and when I want, put on a scope with higher mounts on the rail.  I have a Mossberg 144 bolt action rifle set up like this - the scope fits in the grooved reciever, and you look right past the peep sights to see through the scope. Take off the scope and use the peep sight, or put on the scope and use that. I bought a weaver compact 4x shotgun scope that is a great size for a 22, and has a longer eye relief that works well with the peep setup. Unfortunately I am not currently co-located with my rifles, so I have trouble checking the 10-22 for fit. Thanks for any advise or ideas, Brian

why not just put the Archangel 5.56 style Ruger 10/22 Stock on so you dont have to go through all that trouble, it will leave you with a clean rail to put whatever you want on.

This is not my picture, but it's a Tech Sights TSM200 mounted to a weaver rail on a 10/22. It's the model they sell for the Marlin Model 60.

The following article says it's slightly lower than the one built for the 10/22, which means it'll work with their front sight.

why not just run the stock sights?  If you have optics you will use those anyway.....

Some people hate them and/or want to use their 10/22s to practice with similar sights that are on their ARs.
