I am building a 10/22  and I got my hi-desert dog threaded barrel today.  It came with a thread protector.  I have a spare A-1 flash hider.  Would the flash hider or the thread protector be better for accuracy?  Or would it make a difference? I plan on getting a can for it soon that is why I got a threaded barrel.  So which will be better? A-1 or thread protector?  Thanks.

Go with the thread protector. I don't think it will make any difference if much or at all in accuracy but you won't have to clean as much with the protector because of how dirty .22 ammo is.

No difference.....unless youa re going for 'cool' factor.....then run with the A1. They have zero restriction and have no recoil reduction or reduced muzzle flip capabilities like the later A2 version (which really did'nt have much more).

You won't see a real bench rest rifle with a flash hider. They reduce accuracy...however...they allow for faster follow up shots. Your call on this one.

It would be easiest to try them both, not hard to swap them out.

I use an A1 since I find it easier to take on and off than a regular thread protector when I switch over to suppressor.  YMMV, of course.

I'm just using the thread protector that came with mine. It's still more accurate than I am...
