does anyone else have problems getting great groups from there rimfires at 100 yards?

cz452 22 lr   50yards it shoots small tight clovers     100 yards its over an inch

savage 17 hmr    50 yards its 1 small hole  100 yards its almost an inch

I know the slower lighter bullets we shoot are much more effected by enviromental factors

but just once I would like to shoot a great 100 yard group

any thoughts?

Almost an inch is very good at 100 yards.

Shoot the best ammo you can stand to buy and get to the range at daylight before the wind picks up.

Aero seems to have a good grasp of the situation.

I have a semi-custom ruger 10/22 ruger  set up for my 8 year old son.
He shoots 2-3 inch balloons at 100 with no problem with
a 3-9x40 Nikon Prostaff.  When I shoot the same gun, it is around 1.5 inch group.
This is with standard vel Wolf ammo. If the wind pics up, the grouping opens pretty dramatically.
I have yet to see what my most current custom 10-22 will shoot, but it has a burris  4.5-14x32 timberline scope.
It better shoot better with the money I put into the gun to build it.  I just finished it after Christmas.

Looks like you're doing ok there, IMO. Unless you step up to some expensive Eley or Federal Gold, that's as good as one can hope for, IMO.

I have some Federal gold.  It shoots great out of one of my guns.  If I try it in another it
has a horrible group.  Wolf does well in all my guns.  Point of this story, just like the gentleman stated just above my post,
QUALITY AMMO will make the biggest factor on long distance shooting
