I have a Ruger Model K10/22 with a hammer forged SS barrel.
I am looking into painting the barrel and getting a new stock. I want a black stock and flat OD green barrel.
Is this possible and if so, how would I go about repainting the barrel? (Never done anything like this.)

You can either remove the barrel from the action or just tape it off. If you remove the barrel make sure to tape off the are of the barrel that slides into the action otherwise you may have some issues getting it back together if it was a tight fit before the repaint. Use foam ear plugs in the ends of the barrel to keep the paint out. Personally I would remove the barrel unless you plan on painting the receiver also.

As far as what paint to use it all depends. Personally I would do a test run with Krylon to make sure the color is what you want. Then if you decide you like it strip it using acetone or something similar and paint it with something a little more permanent.

I personally like Gunkote aerosol, it is easy and pretty durable. Best part is you do not have to mix or use a compressor for great results. Just make sure you follow the directions to a "T".
