Ok, so I may have put the cart before the horse here...but I recently bought a Ruger Charger for some inexpensive plinking specifically because I saw the Archangel Mod kit by ProMag Industries (that i cant find for sale yet). The website Archangel Manufacturing says that it should be available 2/09 but I still havent seen or heard about it being for sale anywhere. I have seen it listed on other dealer sites but they never have prices, pictures or descriptions...just that it either will be for sale or had been for sale.
Some people dont like it..(i am getting the kit without the iron sights) .but with the 50 round clips, my new Uni-Green Rail Mount Laser by LaserMax, and the custom integral can that fits under the hand guard...i feel it will be purdy pimped out. Does anyone know where to find one (or maybe a similar kit)...or when to find one available. I am tired of waiting for the website update. Anyone else even heard about it? Definitely open to suggestions about other kits. http://www.archangelmanufacturing.com/pics/aapistolsite.jpg |
| I've been waiting for it also to check it out. I have not talked to promag but based upon what they did on the website when they posted the info...I would say they are about a month to two months behind dates of what they have posted. Their org info post that went up in nov said more info coming in dec. It wasn't posted on their site until first week of jan. |

Looks like Nordic was the target of a major idea stealing this time. http://www.hunt101.com/data/500/1022-kit.jpg normally i would agree with the idea that nordic was ripped off. but Archangel is selling the kit for just about half price...and almost all the aftermarket kits i have seen have the same general look over the receiver. a boxy looking case that covers the ruger and a standard ar pistol grip. only diff is the types of stocks or forgrips. but the value of the pistol kit is the key point here, once its put together i will see what the verdict is |
|
I see your point......I don't really care if someone copied it, just looks like that's where they got the idea.
I am all about saving money....and I think they look pretty cool. Keep us posted when you get one. P.S. Where are you at in SD? I am in Fargo, ND......small world. |
|
I am just down here in brookings...and was actually planning a trip to fargo this weekend for a wedding (but have made new plans now)
i will definitely get some pics of my stuff up when it all gets in. my AR has been out with my cousin for a few weeks waiting to get a threaded barrel, and my charger just showed up a couple days ago and is also waiting on a barrel threading...but yeah, once it happens...all my stuff will be pimped and i will be ready to start looking for more toys. cant wait. |
|
ok now that i have everything on the way...i was looking around a while back and found a forum where a dude had posted a picture of a Charger with the Archangel kit...and he had added an integral supressor that was almost as big around as the inside of the forgrip, and it only stuck out the end a meer 1-2 inches. has anyone else seen that pic around or know where it could be found? I am trying to explane the look to my FFL man, and he cant visualize it.

Its a polymer Nordic copy, not saying that is bad or good, just what it is. Would I buy one? Not anytime soon, as I have zero confidence in anything attached to Pro Mag. Yep, everything I ever received, and everything I've ever SEEN from ProMag is complete garbage. You couldn't pay me to take any of their crap anymore. |
| Well i got mine new off gunbroker, and it should be here in about a day or two. I understand the issues with ProMag but when its going for like 170 from the company and i found a new one for 99, i couldnt pass. i will leave a review once i get it all put together. |
| I built a rifle without the junk flash hider. I like it. It feels like a "glock" ruger 10/22 AR type weapon. I had no issues building (for the most part)and it went together nicely. For the price, I liked it better then the nordic. Nordic was $224 or so then you have to buy a rail, grip, and stock. These all come with the Archangel included for I think I paid around $170. |

well, after all the time, building, and of course paperwork up the ass! its all done...looks just as good as i hoped it would and shoots even better.
layin in the grass, 50rnd buttler creek mags with black Krylon Fusion spray paint, Lasermax red laser (the green one ate batteries too fast), CAA folding forgrip and a custom can. all done up as an AOW http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v200/c_bass16/Charger.jpg hanging from my CAA 1 point sling http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v200/c_bass16/Multicam1.jpg |
| I would like to know what the big deal is about a "tacticool" looking 10/22. It really doesn't look that good. Its like the GSG or whatever that new MP5 look a like thing is. I don't really get it. It doesn't contribute to off hand accuracy. It doesn't need all kinds of tactical junk hanging off of it since it will never be used for combat. It doesn't do anything other than look "tacticool". Does it make the rifle shoot better? |

Seems like everyone is jumping on the tacticool .22 wagon...

Does it make the rifle shoot better? Its an opportunity to own a firearm in a REALLY cheap caliber. You can pay big bucks for a transferable MPG, buy a semi auto copy that may or may not run, or buy a little .22 and blast till you pass out. Why have .22 uppers for AR's? Its a chance to get in trigger time for hours without blowing your life savings. All the tacticool .22's are trying to emulate the AR anyway, but if I am going to justify the price of any of 'em, I'd just get a Spike's upper so I can practice with charging handle, bolt catch, and mag release. ETA anything involving the Charger seems retarded to me anyway so I wasn't really talking about it in the above. |

The "tacticool" rimfires aren't my thing either, but...the only purpose it has to serve is to please it's owner.

Same techniques for off hand shooting, but do you put a light on a .22 upper? That's like buying airsoft and showing off your gun to your friends like you really bought something. I have 6-22's. I never even considered paying good money to make one look blacktical. I guess it really is just to please the owner. Its like a guy dressed in Harley gear riding a Vespa. A vespa can be a load of fun, but pretending its a Harley and putting Harley accessories on it does not a Harley make. |

Mine gets tons of use on coon, and cottontails. Its more accurate than my Mosquito and easier and quicker to shoot than my 10/22. Varmint lethal past 50m, probably not very often...fun to unleash past 50m anyway, of course. Not to mention we like to drive around in the Polaris Ranger and pop Kangaroo Rats off the gravel roads at night.
And for the accessories, the laser and foregrip make occasional trips between the Charger and the AR, and the can also goes back and forth between the Charger and 10/22. IMO it all works great together, and that's the only point I guess. Accessories that are not "one weapon specific" are the way to go. but hey, it ain't for everyone, thanks for the input anyway |
|
I like mine but I have not and will not put anything on it besides a sight and a bipod. I bult it for something diff in a 22. I enjoy shooting it and it weighs almost nothing. I knida of think of it as a "toy". Its fun to shoot and its cheap to shoot. But the best thing is my girlfriend can shoot it all day and likes it.
And if you don't like plastic then I guess you don't own a Glock. |

I just bought an Archangel stock and when I put one of my 10/22s in it, it will be "tacticool" but not "tactical" as this is a hobby for me which is all the reason I need to do it. It won't be a n AR but I have a couple of them so that doesn't matter. I pretty much stop questioning why anyone does anything with their guns long ago which has enabled me to achieve true inner peace and enlightenment. |
