I don't drop by this forum very often, but I had to chime in on my new toy.   I own a few .22 rifles...well actually, my 10/22 is claimed by my 6 year old daughter so I guess I can take that one off the list.

I have shot many .22 pistols and riles owned by friends and such....

I purchased a Sig Mosquito a week ago.   I shoot it mostly with my AAC Pilot can on the end.   It is the best .22 pistol I have ever shot with or without the can.   I wanted something that would cycle sub-sonics at least for a few mags.  I wanted something that didn't feel like a toy like the Walther P22.   I wanted an accurate, yet somewhat compact, light springed .22 pistol.  The Sig actually comes with 2 springs, one for light loads and one for hyper sonic loads.

It's definately much more (my tactical model was over $450 and the standard model will run you around $350) but it is well worth it.  It is basically a somewhat smaller Sig 226.  Very sturdy feeling, made of real metal and not a bunch of plastic.   Easy to use, not the complicated mag release and such from the Walther (although I do have the most respect for Walther since my Grandfather gave me the PP that he brought back from WWII), and very reliable.   It has a fixed barrel so there is NO play at all.

Basically, spend the extra $ and get the SIG rather than the Walther.

I am in no way, shape or for associated with ANY gun manufacturer, dealer or any other such thing.

Better yet, Steve, get a Glock with an Advantage Arms .22lr conversion kit.  Or a 1911 with a Marvel .22lr conversion kit.  I should have let you try both of mine at the Hun Farm.  I also had my own Walther P22 with me too.

How do you differentiate the springs?

One is bigger than the other, IIRC. And/or white...

They tell you in the manual.

I have a P22 with SRT suppressor.  Can't remember the last time I cleaned it.  Shot about 200 rounds yesterday.  Most were Remington Subsonic.  No malfunctions.  I would guess this thing is 98-99% reliable.  I do get a failure to fire on occasion but I pull the trigger a second time and it usually goes bang.  I think these are ammo failures.  Gun is dependable.  I wanted to try a Sig but I think I wait a little longer.
