Has anyone tried the walmart Winchester Xpert 22 packs? Picked one up today on sale 500 for $4.89. Curios if they are any good??

Never used them BUT thats a heck of a good price. I think I'm gonna have to check them out and see if mine has them for that money.

I wonder if they are low powered enough to go sub-sonic without all the extra money they charge you for "sub-sonic" ammo.....  I have found some of the cheap ammo will fly just under the edge most of the time in my supressed guns.

I bought one. Lots of duds. I now spend $13 or 14 per 500 for better ammo.

Never tried those... I do have (mostly) good luck with the $9/550 Federal bulk pack.  I can deal with a few duds if I'm saving money.

Win XPerts work very well and are quite accurate in some of my guns. Others they won't work in. They are definitely supersonic. They're almost always more accurate than the Federal Walmart bulks. I shoot a buttload of them in revolvers and bolt actions.

I use both the Winchester and the Federal bulk packs. In my opinion it's just like all .22 ammo, if it works good in your gun shoot it. I have tried just about every type of .22 ammo out there and so far the most accurate groups I shoot are with the bulk pack Federal. CCI Blazer and Wichester bulk pack is close behind.

I wish my local Wal-Mart had them at that price (9.22 here), I would buy all they had at that price

Yeah... what did happen to the Dynapoint bulk packs?

I don't know a good replacement... so I just buy whatever they have and I never keep track of whether or not the ammo sucked, so I don't know.

Where the dynapoints plain lead or jacketed?

I always preferred the Federals because they were jacketed.

Dynapoints weren't what I'd call "jacketed", they were more of a copper wash.  They were good shit... but the hollow point was a pretty small hole.

Just spent the afternoon with my kids shooting.

Bought one box, lots of duds ,more than 10%.

I'll go back to the Ferdral rarely have a misfire .

I picked up several of the Winchester and tried shooting thru other 22 weapons. Even  with 5 or 6 rimfire hits had close to 45 duds out of 525 rounds.

Plus the Winchester is all lead , no copper coating, to prevent leading of your bores.

Lots of misfires and jams in 3 different 10/22's and a Walther P22.

I just shot 1100 rounds with my kids, using a bolt action M1922, a pumpaction remington fieldmaster, and a 10/22.

Not a single hangfire, misfire or problem

Now I need to buy 10K

Try the Automatch.  You only get 325 rounds for 10.50 but they shoot very well in my 10/22T. Nearly as good as SK standard plus and just as good as 711B.

This Federal stuff is ALL I shoot, it's cheap and works VERY well in Ciener Kit.

I had also bought the Rem Golden Bullets 550 pack and had nothing but problems with it. Lots of FTF some with weak primers (hammer dropped but no bang), a lot of them seemed like they had some excess and would get wedged in the chamber half way through, the extractor couldn't get them out I had to use curved needle nose. Even with a nice spray of Rem Oil in the chamber some rounds were still getting wedged.

For fun plinking this Federal Value Pack is the best, shoots a little dirty but nothing to fuss over considering the price and accuracy.

Actually I went camping this weekend and went through alot of rounds.   I would say probably 5 or 6 boxes of the Federals (between 2500-3000rds) between my 10/22, Browning Buckmark, and P22.

Anyway, towards the end of the trip the Walther wouldn't go more than two or three shots between malfunctions.   I tried some Remington bulk that another friend had and it ran like a top.    So....    I don't know what the deal was.  The only thing I can think of is that I didn't have a deceasant pack in with the ammo.   It was only the stuff towards the bottom of the ammo can (I dump my bulk packs in a 7.62 Army ammo can.)

The Browning still ran it fine for the most part even though it probably had the most rounds down the pipe out of the other two guns.

Just cut some cardboard to size and line the inside and bottom of your 7.62 can. The cardboard will/should  prevent moisture build up. It might just do the trick and it's a cheap way of solving the problem.

Hope that helps...

I'll try that, thanks.

I can get free silicone packs to, so I'll probably take some of them Wed.  I work at a department store unloading the trucks, and there are always a hundred of those packed with the shoes.

I have never tried those packs at Wally world, but I will definitely give them a shot if they are that cheap at my local wally world. So far though, the only ammo that won't run in my 10/22 and 22/45 is the CCI blazer stuff. Bith guns like the Remy golden bullet the best.

Shot a little over 300 rounds of this stuff today.  I only had three duds out of all the rounds I fired.  When I got closer to the 300 mark 3-4 cases got jammed which I would've expected.  Overall I like this stuff quite a bit.

Guess I'll have to stop by MaoMart tomorrow and get some of that for $4.89 and hey, it's still made in the USA!

Has anyone else had problems with the wax building up with the Federal bulk packs?  I went through 2 boxes last weekend and was having FTE's (stovepipes).  It was a brand new 10/22 and I couldn't figure out what the problem was.  I got home and field stripped it, and it was only after I got the bolt out I noticed that there was some wax buildup right by the ejector.  I haven't been back out to see if that was the problem, but I assume it was.  On the plus side, I didn't have a single dud.  I usually have a few with the remington packs.

I'm starting to get some but I haven't cleaned it in three years.  I only shoot the Federal bulk packs and Stingers through the gun.   I have shot a few other different CCI variations but not many.

This was after less than a thousand rounds, and less than 1500 on the whole rifle.  I really like the groups I'm getting out of the federal, but I can't have FTE's every mag.  Could it be something else?

The "ejector" on a 10/22 doesn't. Ejection is handled by a projection on the left lip of the magazine.

Most common cause of stovepiping and other ejection problems on 10/22 is a weak extractor. Replacement of the factory extractor with a VQ unit usually makes them disappear.

The warning about Stingers with the longer case only applies to the 10/22T.  Regular models with the standard chamber are fine.

My cousin's 10/22 got a bunch of jams with the Xperts and my 22/45 won't feed them either. The Ciener feeds them OK, but the last box was borderline on getting it to cycle far enough back to cock the hammer.  Was OK until it got a little dirty.  Switched to Fed. 550 pack and it kept running.  All my other guns are manually operated and feed the Xperts fine.  Accuracy has generally been a little better than the Federal, and the big HP blows up water-filled stuff a lot better than that dimple on the Fed.   Rem GB 550 packs seem to be inbetween on accuracy in most of my guns, but dirtier--leaves black soot on the outside of the case.

BTW, $4.89 is a great price for them.  They're $9.22 at WM here now.  I've never seen them cheaper than the $7.87 they used to be at WM.

Over the last three weeks we have shoot 6050 rounds thru two diffent bolt actions, one pump, two different semi's(one 10/22 ,one marlin60ss) not a single misfire/ dud/ FTE problem.

I clean them (have the kids clean them with) after every trip. Brake cleaner spray from walmart, hoppes#9 and use a little elite oil and now an starting use use dry moly spray on some place.

I love my cheap Federals, getting good groups and kids are having a blast.
