I've built up my uber expensive Volq 10/22 and now I'm at a loss for scopes.  I'd like it to be variable and up to atleast 20x, although I'd like more.  What optics out there are REASONABLY priced and have a high power to em?  I'm thinking about a Nikon 6.5-20x44 which can be found for $300 used or maybe a Tasco or something.  Does anyone have recommendations for CLEAR optics under $300?

you can get a bushnell trophy 6-18x40 or the elite 3200 in 5-15x50......anything cheaper in that price range combined with a 20x will give you poor images at that power setting....if you want something that high you must either look at leupy's/or nxs's=alot of $$$$

Well, my indoor only Rem 540XR does fine with a Simmons Airpro 6-18x32 for about $130. And my Bushnell 4200 6-24x40 mildot is simply outstanding glass for $390, at least as clear as my 1-5x20 VXIII Leupold but brighter.

I understand the Ameetec's (sp) are pretty decent for their price.  I believe they have a 4x16.  I know some smallbore silhouette shooters using them.

Like SevilNecrophile, I am also looking for a scope for my 10/22 but I do not want to buy anything made in China.  Are any of the scopes mentioned here made outside of China?

i'm using a Leupold 3x9x40 matte Rifleman seriese scope on my 10/22.  i got some amazing groups today with it.  my only complaint is the W & E adjustments are friction instead of click.  i was going to go with the vari x 1 (only $20 more and i'm pretty sure it has click adjustments) but the dealer didn't have the reticle i wanted.  the scope cost me $199 + tax.

That Bushnell looks good!  Fortunately, while on SWFA, i found the ticket - a Nikon 6.5-20x44AO with target turrets and sunshade for under $400.  Not bad for a Nikon product.

did you check with midway....they might have it cheaper....I can get a bushnell 4200
4-16x50/shades for $449....otherwise you'll be good with the nikon....good thing you didn't go for like a bsa or some of that other crap...my cousins got a bsa 6-24x50 and it sucks crap...waste of $$$...at 24x the image was blurred like a motherf*cker and it wasn't bright anymore......and this season for some reason there was a small particle that fell off of the inside of the scope and it keeps getting stuck to the crosshairs.....all this crap on a rem 700 action/ custom built aluminum wrapped bull barrel on a A-5 mcm stock....the gun looks sick but the bsa and the standard leupy mounts must go.....he did bag a small a small 2pter and a okay size blackie about 230lbs....lucky bastard

I have a BSA Platnum Target 8-32x44

Its one of the better scopes I own, and I've never had any problems at higher power.

Its worth every cent.
