I'm finally going to put a scope on my little ruger.  It's a centenial model from 1976 (9 years older than me-- it was a gift from my grandfather).  Anyway, I have the factory scope mount and screws, but it seems like a pretty pathetic mount.  How well deos it hold up? Any good mounts I should be aware of?

I've had good luck with the Ruger mount. I used it for many years with good succuess. You can find I" rings to fit the 3/8" groove and a .22 doesn't have enough recoil to shake it loose.

But I've also replaced it with the Weaver TO-9 scope base. It screws on in the same place but is grooved for the 3/8" tipoff rings and the full size rings used on centerfire guns. I've now put the Weaver on three 10/22's and won't consider using any other base.

I see the TO9 kit on SWFA, and I'm thinking of getting it.  Does it only accept regular, centerfire rings?  Or either those or rimfire rings?  I ask because the scope I have on hand (tasco 3-9X32) came with a set of rimfire rings.

Thanks for your help.

The TO9 fits both size rings.

Warne makes rings for Rugers, and Millet has a scope mount/ring combo...I just ordered one.  Hopefully, it'll be here today, and I can let you know how it works out.
