Question for you guys who have the rack and/or could answer my questions. I have a chance to buy a used M13 rack in pretty good shape, If I got it it would probably use it to hold my rifles. My questions are the following: 1. Besides being badass are these racks even "worth it" to use? 2. I see on the M13s the "locking" bars on the very top, Is there a way to secure the rifles in the rack if using shorter rifles? (different kinds of rifles) 3. If there is a way to increase the locking system, would it stop home intruders? (I know a lock will only keep an honest man honest) what are your thoughts? |

I've got a couple of them somewhere. Used to use them quite often. I'd run a cable lock though it as the rack is really built for fixed carry handle M-16s and CARs. This is why nearly all armories have gotten rid of them and moved to either locking door racks or roller track shelves/racks in the armories. At least in Marine Corps Armories I've been in. I could even lock pistols to it using padlocks though some holes on the rack.
If you can get one cheap it might be worth it. I just did a quick google search though and they look like they are 100ish dollars. |

Quoted: Full-length removable carry handles may prove too wide for the locking bars to fit over properly. Some pistol grips have more palm swell or girth, and are difficult to get out of their slots. ![]() What do you mean the removable carry handles? I think your thinking of an M12 Rack which is for M16s. The M13 racks are for M249s, there built a little bit different then the M12s |
