Does anyone really know what the differences are between the two? By looking at them I can see some subtle differences but nothing major. I am an LEO and want a plate carrier to keep in my trunk for active shooter situations or when the shit just hits the fans.

Any experience with either?

Regards.

I am LEO also and work patrol.  I have had the Banshee for about 5 years now and it has served me very very well. I am not familiar with the Patriot to compare.

I own both and the patriot is lighter, a little more comfortable, and has no shoulder buckles. If I had to choose i would probably lean towards the patriot carrier. That said,  I love my Mayflower APC

The buckles can be pretty bulky. Whenever i shouldered my rifle it had a tendency to sit right on the buckle and would slide off. I clipped mine off and attached some G hooks from SKD.

The patriot doesn't have a kangaroo pouch if you need one. I think i have a marker and some note cards in mine. I'd recommend the Banshee if you need an inexpensive yet decent carrier. Mines held up great riding around in the back of my Crown Vic and i bought it used none the less.  I probably throw mine on once or twice a month.

Don't know anything about patriot but the banshee is a good carrier.

Definitely go to skd and get the d-ring upgrade for the shoulder buckles if you go the banshee route. Well worth it

I went ahead and got the Banshee but didn't see an option to upgrade the buckles. Is it a big problem with a sling on your rifle?

Thanks for the response. I went ahead and pulled the trigger on the Banshee. I found it on sale for the same price as the Patriot and I've heard great things about the Banshee. I'm sure the Patriot is good too but I don't see as many reviews. Thank you for adding the link to the G hooks. I went ahead and bought those just incase the buckles bother me.

Knowing my luck, now that I'm ordering one I won't use it hardly. Since I've been hired we've had 2 active shooters... and it's been 10 months. And in the last 18 months we've had 5. I haven't been working during all of them, but at this rate I'll be involved in more and will need a plate carrier. The last active shooter we had about 2 weeks ago, the guy had a kevlar helmet, kevlar vest, and an AR with multiple magazines. My issued soft armor ain't gonna do shit.

Thanks again

Yep I ordered the g hook (also called d rings.... I think? At least on their site it is) just in case the buckles bother me too much.

I do like the banshee a lot. I have accumulated a lot of gear over the years, same thing goes for guns. Once you buy you just can't seem to stop.  I enjoy enjoy trying different products. When my wife sees packages at the door, she says "not again". I laugh and say "Yup". Its probably time to sell one or two carriers and pouches lol
