All,
So I ordered a Fat Zombie Duty belt on 12/31/15. When I ordered the web site stated 7+ weeks. I have purchased from all the big name companies with big name waits like Ares, Raven, so on and so forth so I am cool waiting for a quality product. Shit started to drag a little much, then I hit 12 weeks I fired off an email asking status, no reply. 16 weeks hit, another email, and a phone call, nothing. Now that it's 20 weeks I figure it's time to start really checking things out. Well sure as shit the BBB is loaded with recent complaints about no service, no comms, no nothing. Most people needed to fill a BBB complaint to get their money back. Just thought I would post my story here in hopes that people stay away from Jones. I don't give a single fuck how busy that dude is with his cool kid orders, this kind of service is mother fucking terrible. I knew I should have bought an Ares again but thought, hey, let me try something different. Fuck that guy with a rusty fucking car bumper. |

I have ordered two belts from Jones Tactical in two different orders. I waited months each time. Unless there has been a change, it is a one man operation. Seven plus weeks is an understatement.. having said that, his stuff is worth the wait.
Yes responses to email is almost never, yes the phone rings with no answer. Is he a questionable vendor... no! The world of order on Monday and have by Thursday has spoiled the consumers! You wait for custom work. Just like ordering a custom built 1911 and being on a 2 year waiting list... Jones Tactical has a backlog of orders. The BBB ratings in my opinion are uncalled for! The only thing to really complain about... is that the wait might be will be months and he fails to update his website with that information! If you want quick... order the mass produced pre-sized stuff. It might be US made... and it might be made in China. However... his stuff is the best, and worth the wait. |

People say the same thing about SOE, but I personally believe that if you have to wait that long, an email with an update is a must. 20 weeks is a long time to wait with no word, and I can't blame him for feeling ripped off. The BB thing just confirms that other people have the same problems. There is just no excuse for taking someone's money and then leaving them in the dark about their product's delivery date. You will not be able to convince me that he is sowing 16 hours a day and then sleeping the other 8 and has no free time to reply to customers. |

I have boxes of nice shit I waited longs waits for. A nylon duty belt shouldn't take 6 fucking months. Right now Ares is a 3 week max and they are the gold standard in nylon belts. Jones isn't curing cancer. If it's such a struggle then stop taking orders for a bit and clear back logs. But that's what a decent business would do. |

Yeah, I had an order from his years ago that went way past the estimated time. No responses to email, but he did refund my money quickly.
With the vast array of quality gear makers out there today, there isn't a reason why someone should wait for months for kit. |

Great.... All I ordered from him was the inner velcro belt in Coyote. ( I ordered a belt from AWS Guess it will be awhile... This guy must bave taken a Play out of Hobie from ICE Tactical's playbook from back in the early 2000's. I get a one man operation... But if your that back logged then guess what???? You stop taking orders. Pretty simple. Guess I'll find some one else to get another inner belt from... |

A few days before this thread, I placed an order with JT.
After reading this, I sent an email asking him to cancel my order, because I heard he was running months behind his published delay. I got a reply very quickly asking if I was sure, because he expected to get my order out by the following week. (it was just a basic EDC belt) I agreed to let the order stand, but it's been three weeks since then and I've still not seen it. Argh! |

Nothing good to say about Jones. I disagree with him being the best also. Lots of other quality venders out there that won't dick you around. This exactly. I've seen his stuff and it's OK , not great or special. There are other companies making be,to out there with good quality, solid designs, and good CS- I would patronize them before giving my money to a company like this |

I've used a good bit of his gear, both overseas and in the US. It has always been great kit, well made, perfect dimensions, and finished better than anything I saw commercially.
Keep in mind, he is a 1 man show. Gear is his side business as it doesn't pay enough to do full time. He is good people, just has a normal 9-5 job during the day so phone comms are spotty. He always responds to my e-mails and has gotten me what I needed. YMMV. |

He always responds to my e-mails and has gotten me what I needed. YMMV. I get all that. He is not the first "1 man Show" I have ever ordered from. What gets me and most folks are that he continues to take orders, and puts very optimistic lead times that he is know where near close to. I have no experience with his gear, but I'm no stranger to gear and what materials are used and how they are put together, unless he has magic elves working in a tree...(Which would help his lead times...) their is only so many ways to stitch webbing and cordura together to make a durable stiff well built belt. His web site would lead one to believe he is not a one man show and that he has the capability to output goods. I bought a belt from AWS and they have a crew of folks and they still took 6 weeks. I'm fine with that, but he needs to better manage his customers so that folks are out their like a custom knife and waiting months. And not let the dollars decide for him if he should take on more customers, or service the current ones that are waiting. Everybody wants to be a gear maker.. until its time to process the orders and make the gear...Good CS is as good as the product in many cases. And as Dirty Harry put it.... "Man's got to know his limitations" |
|
I haven't talked to him in a while, maybe he got some helpers.
All I'm saying is that I know him, have met him in person and he helped me out in a big way when I was headed to Iraq and needed gear short notice. AWS...their backpacks are good to go...have their war belt...meh...not great. IMO, if you want a belt, go to Ronin Tactics. It is made by AWS but is a bit better. |

I can appreciate 1 man shows and I was willing to wait long waits like I have for all kinds of other cool kid stuff, but I'm going on 7 months, and multiple emails with nothing. I will go back to giving my money to Ares. He has racked up a ton of BBB complaints so it isn't just me. In fact there are 14 unanswered complaints right now. When Volund got in over there heads last year they did the right thing and shut down ordering until they could get caught up, like any normal company. Fuck him. |

If you can get by with it, the Ronin Tactics belt is the best belt on the market IMO. I think it is made by AWS. Good quality overall. AWS also sells a good belt that is made from the same stiff webbing minus the MOLLE loops. YMMV...belt kit is very subjective. |
| I ordered 2 Fat Zombie belts in the past without problems. Then last year ordered two inner belts and I got screwed. The first few emails I received BS excuses then he quit responding all together. I don't say this often about many companies but in the case of Jones Tactical DONT spend your money with him!! |

I'm bumping this to remind people to avoid Jones Tactical. I sent an email about 12 days ago requesting to cancel my order and refund my payment, but it went ignored, of course. I escalated it thru PayPal, so I'll see how that goes. He will make promises to keep his deadline, create new deadlines, strategically ignore emails to buy time, & when he thinks you are at the end pf your patience & about to pull the plug, he will deliver. |
|
I gave him a week past the deadline I sent.
I never got a response, a refund, or a belt, so I filed a report thru pay pal. They gave him another 10 days to respond to them, then refunded my money last night. For 10 days the report said "waiting for seller to respond". I hope PayPal suspends his account, so he does not try to rip anyone off. |
