What's a good high quality wrist watch that I should look into getting?

Not too knowledgeable about them, but I'd really like to stop relying on my iPhone so much.

I use a Casio alt/baro/temp at work, sgw-300h and have for several years with no problem.  I also got a Casio Pro-Trek for xmas and love it, solar so i don't have to worry about batteries.  Granted both do more than tell time, I use the barometer for work, but I've been well satisfied and had no problems so far.

Search "casio rescue watch" on amazon and get any of those.

Also, it helps to know what you want to spend.

I have had a Swiss Army brand watch for more than 10 years. Work watch and I wear it hard. Still looks and runs great.

Whoops! Budget is under $300ish.

The Casio Rescue watches look interesting but a bit complicated.

Any G Shock. I love mine, it almost never leaves my wrist.

ETA I have a Mudman 3031, I think it was ~$75

This is like asking "What car should I buy." We need some more information....

1. Do you want analog or digital?
2. What feature do you want?

Suunto Core...also look into the Seiko SKA413 Adventure Kinetic (usually found online around $200+/-)

I've got a Casio G-Shock (don't know which model, there are so many) and a Seiko SKX173 dive watch. I like them both but the Seiko is my favorite because I prefer analog watches and I don't have to worry about the battery going dead at an inopportune time. Both fall within your price range and you can't go wrong with either one.

::shrug::

I hate having stuff on my wrists in general, and wanted a simple, low profile, no frills watch (I also wear mine inside the wrist, not over) - and never really bought into the whole Suunto Core et al "super duper" watches.

One of the best I've found have been the Bertucci watches:

http://www.bertucciwatches.com/Bertucci/home.html

The khaki band matches MultiCam pretty well once it gets a little dirty, too -  but since I got mine, they've started offering MultiCam bands as well (they also offer UCP for... I'm not sure why...)

Nice, slim, durable, and simple, can tell time, day or night.

I have enough other gadgets to serve other functions stashed in various devices/locations about my body/kit.  No need for a super-computer on my wrist.

Swatch Irony Series - Don't laugh, you'd be surprised. I have three and they are beautiful timepieces that will not break the bank, plus a very simple way to change the batteries without taking it to a jewelry store.

This is my daily use watch - Get Fly Black

THis is my "Dressy" watch - Gently Glove. THis one i got gently used from eBay; it has a black gator skin straps.

Both have stainless steel bodies and hare 4 jewel movements.

I have a Timex Expedition with a black NATO strap for everyday wear and at work, a Casio G Shock for other occasions.

I switch between a Bertucci super-lume, polished titanium/sapphire crystal with a zulu NATO strap, then a Citizen Eco-Drive Titanium Nighthawk, sapphire crystal. The Bertucci is more flashy (polished Ti case and a "Sea Dog Gray" NATO strap that's closer to a blue-ish color). Both are awesome, light weight, utilitarian, and look good to me (and close/within the OP's budget).

I just bought a Citizen Eco-Drive /Atomic Navihawk to start using when I travel. No more batteries or resetting the time for the life of this watch! I desperately need an upgraded strap for it, since the black Navihawk only comes with a rubber strap, at least in the U.S. The other negative is it has a mineral/softer crystal. This one can be had for $300 if you look long enough.

I was looking at a British tactical site earlier today and saw an ad for KHS Tactical Watches out of Germany. They look pretty good but this was the first that I'd heard of them. Does anyone know anything about them?

Suunto Ambit 3.

It can do EVERYTHING. The ultimate watch. I've had it now for almost six months and it's awesome. The blue tooth connection to my i-phone and app is very nice.  You do have to recharge the battery, but when it's not in GPS Nav mode you can go weeks without having to recharge.

Any of the G-Shock versions that use the atomic clock to maintain accuracy and have the solar face so you never need to worry about batteries. The other features like altimeter and barometric pressure are fun, but the time sensor and the solar face are worth every penny.

I wear this if I am working at home or on the range.
G-Shock

Its been beat to death, but everything still works and its always ready for more.

I like my Citizen Eco Nighthawk-AT.  Solar Powered, never needs a battery.  Radio Sync, never needs to be set for correct time including for daylight savings time.  Perpetual Calender, never need to be set for calender corrections, including leap year.  Quartz crystal bezel, very hard and scratch resistant.  Watch is made of black titanium all the way through, no finish to wear off.  Has all the other chronograph features you would expect too.

I love when companies try to equate digital watches with emergency services.

Counting respirations or pulses I use an analog dial.

I've been mighty pleased with my Seiko 5 military self-winder:

Got one of these.  In three years it's lost a few seconds at most.  I like that I don't have to wind it or replace batteries.  It gets whatever light during the day and a couple of hours so at night on a dresser.   The only thing I'd change would be tritium capsules rather than light absorbing poweder on the hands.

I've had a Suunto Core for the last few years. It's held up pretty well in a fairly physical job. No issues with it, other than having to change the battery after two years. I don't use most of the fancy features, I mostly like it because it's tough & has an easy to read display.

The pic isn't too clear & hate to tell you this, but that red sub is either fake, or has had quite a few parts replaced.
Actually they all look a bit janky. Suppose some of it it could be the pic resolution on the others, but that red sub has several things incorrect about it.

Hope you didn't pay top dollar for it.

I have been running an older silver version of the Casio AMW320B.  Mine has a silver case not black and I put a NATO strap on it.  I have had it for 13 years and put 3 batteries in it.  I am hard on watches and it has held up.  You can get the black on black one on Ebay now for about $70 shipped.  I am going to get another because mine is pretty beat up, but still keeps time.  This is what the black on black one looks like.
