| Looking into a new plate carrier, and want to move into something a little more "official" would be the best term i suppose. I currently have a Condor that will fit an 11x14 front plate and want to find something similar. I've looked at the Eagle maritime and Like it quite a bit, but cannot find anything used to purchase that im confident in (ebay knockoffs) I ran across LBT and am just curious to know what experiences anyone hashad with them. More particularly, the 6094. Do these have a lower IR signature? HAs anyone run one of these carriers against something like a condor? want to settle into a more permanent PC and then buy the plates and be done with it. I bought the Condor because of the Plate it would accept, but want to slow downandjust buy the permanent carrier and not something temporary... buy once cry once... the second time around. |
| LBT is topnotch, well made equipment. I have a 6094 and it is extremely well made and comfortable to wear. I think you'll need a size L for the 11X14 sized plate. LBT has sales on a regular basis and if you hit it right you can get one from them direct for 50% off during the sales. Beware ebay because there are a lot of LBT knock offs out there. |

If you go here:http://lbtinc.com/media/images/attachments/PlateCarrierSelection.pdf, you can find some info on LBT place carrier sizing. I believe your plates are probably XL size, but you should e-mail or call the mfr of any pc you are contemplating buying to make sure you have the correct size of pc for your plates. This varies a bit from mfr to mfr, so make sure to contact the mfr.
As noted, the LBT pc is top-notch. There are other excellent alternatives, some of which do not cost as much, or require you to wait for a sale. One of these is the Banshee, made by Shellback. Note that you will need to add some components to the basic unit to make it more-or-less directly comparable to the LBT pc, which in a full-feature rig. Still, all-up, the Banshee is considerably less expensive then the LBT, or other similar PCs made by other top-tier mfrs, of whom there are quite a few. Your task is to determine the correct size of pc, which is determined by the size of your plates, and to determine which features you need on your pc. Try to pick a mfr whose product will allow you to add-on various features to your pc, in case you initially guess wrong, and decide to up grade your pc in some way(s). It would be worth your time to find the plate-sizing thread Tac Gear forum, as it has anatomical diagrams which you might find very useful:http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_6_10/349140_Proper_wear_of_Hard_Armor__with_anatomical_diagrams_.html&light=anatomical. |

Thanks for the LBT link. I've looked at the Shellback before, just a little nervous about its size. Im a larger framed individual, but i think my pc now rides a little low around my clavicle. I dont have the plates yet, so thats why i want to find the right carrier and then add the plates into it. I've looked at the thread before about the plate coverage and accept the fact that only the vital organs are what needs the most coverage, but i need to go back and re-read the thread instead of just looking at those diagrams. Being about 6'1"265, I need to trim some more around the mid section first of all ( i was 310 this time last year) Thanks again for the info and i'll def. keep the banshee as an option. |

Well, congrats on your weight loss, and I hope that you will continue in doing so.
That being the case, perhaps buying another PC and plates just now might be premature, especially as you already seem to have one. It might be wiser for you to redouble your weight loss plans, continue using what you now have, and consider alternatives as you near your target weight. YMMV, and good luck regardless. |
