Can we start a picture thread on what range bag everyone use to transport their AR to the range pistols included.

I remember seeing one a long ass time ago. Unless it was strictly a pelican case thread. I'll see if I can find it, but this is the wrong section regardless.

I use larue moabs.

And then a larue range bag for ammo, muffs, plugs, targets, gloves, stapler etc etc.

I can put a rifle and at least one handgun in the moab, most of the time two.

If I am taking more than one I just use my Pelican 1720 cases and throw them in that.  Otherwise I have a black molle double rifle case I snagged at a gun show years ago that has been simply put awesome but I have no clue on the brand.  Fits my M1a loaded perfectly also or 20" rifles"
Have to get pics later today.

Voodoo Tactical 15-9659. It's for pistol grip shotguns, but I found it fit my AR pistol perfectly. I believe it is discontinued though.

If you get a long (rifle) case, get a double sized one, so you can carry two long guns.  They aren't that much thicker, and it's so much more convenient to carry two rifles.

Safariland 4556 3-Gun Competition Case
http://www.amazon.com/Safariland-4556-3-Gun-Competition-Black/dp/B006ASLLU4

good bag but not great for storing a bunch of ammo as in not enough for a class/competition/full range day.  I have had a few problems with the stitching around the backpack straps too but I got a good deal on it.  I also run a 5.11 rifle bag which has a bunch of MOLLE, some of which is inside other pouches so a holster could be added if needed.

I think buying one great, huge range bag is a mistake.  It gets heavy and unwieldy, plus all the small items tend to get lost or drop to the bottom, where they are almost inaccessible.

I have small range bags for rifle, pistol, and shotgun.  All contain the cleaning stuff for their dedicated use.  If going to the range, I load them with ammo, intended-use mags, and pistols, in pistol rugs, if using such.

This way, I can leave most of the stuff locked in the car, and only take with me to the firing line what I will be immediately using.  Just pick up what you're finished using, walk a few steps to the car, and swap out for the next course of fire.  Earth tones are best, as these bags will get dirty.

The smaller bags allow me to organize better, and even small items are easy to find, since I'm not mixing all sorts of different items within the same bag.

Some decent ones are sold by LAPG: http://lapolicegear.ecomm-search.com/search?keywords=bail+out+bag&vwcatalog=policestuff.

Midway often has good range bags on sale, and waiting is worth it, if that's what you want.

Long arm cases ought to be well-padded, and waterproof, with both wrap-around handles and attachment points for decent, adjustable and 2" wide shoulder straps.  Pay particular attention to the shoulder strap and its' attachment points, as that can be a failure point in inexpensive cases.

I have been to competitive matches where the folks would load up their stuff in carts, specifically designed for their particular shooting sport.  In many cases, this makes sense.  I have sometimes thought that a large-diameter wheeled, collapsible cart might be handy sometimes.  Forget about the small-wheel shopping carts, as the tiny, narrow wheels which are OK for the supermarket parking lot get bogged-down in wet grass.

Something like this might be pretty good.  Instead of a tall, narrow shopping cart sort of basket, this thing allows the user to spread things out horizontally.  The wheels should have good floatation on grass, and keep the owners of the range happy, since you won't be tearing it up. http://www.amazon.com/Mac-Sports-WTC-Foldable-Beachcomber/dp/B008DJDUPM

Condor has a pretty nice looking double rifle bag anyone use them before? http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B007IWJ63A/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1418449518&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SY200_QL40

I have one of these and it works great for a
long rifle in the main compartment & I will
carry another long gun, typically a shotgun,
captured behind the shorter compartment
with the butt end protruding outside the bag.

It works just fine for me this way, but the
zippers are cast pot metal & I have had 2
break. I replaced them with spares from
my Jeep's soft top.

FYI

I just use a pelican case for the rifle I'm bringing.  A small rubbermaid action packer carries the support shit I need.

If I'm just taking my 14.5", I have an Orca Arms compact carbine case
http://orcaarms.com/index.php/tactical-gear/packs-l-bags-l-cases/compact-carbine-case.html

Though it only gives me room for 4 mags. I'm thinking about a maxpedition versi-pack or other messenger bag for extra ammo.

If I'm taking 2 rifles, I have a Voodoo Tactical double rifle case that can hold a lot of stuff but the shoulder strap sucks.

Well, I purchased the Dustin Ellermann Range Qualifier Case and I use it just to haul various range items for both my wife and I.  It is nearly bursting it is so filled with stuff and honestly I am going to have to break down to buy a bigger range bag at some point.  The nice thing about it though is that it's not so big that it takes up all the space at the indoor range counter you get for setting up stuff at our local indoor range. For pistols, I haul both my pistol and my wife's in a Seahorse case, which is pure awesome and I highly recommend you check them out before you just buy a Pelican.  The Seahorse holds four pistols and about 16 magazines.

I literally haul an entire pick-up load of stuff to the range when we go. I have target stands, sand bags, camp chairs, folding table, pop-up canopy, my range bag, my pistol case, a 50 caliber ammunition box with the ammo we'll use, a tube for targets, safety cones to mark off distance, wooden barricades...it's pretty nuts.  Everythign that's not of extreme value or ammo gun related I leave in the truck 24/7 so on the weekends I can just load a few things and go. With set-up and running drills my wife and I are take about two hours from sign in to sign out at the range. With travel I spend about three hours in total dedicated to the outdoor range once a week so long as weather permits (ie my truck can travel the roads there).  If the weather sucks we go with just the Range bag and Seahorse pistol case to the indoor range.

We shoot nearly every weekend. If we're crazy busy like in December maybe we'll just go twice during the month, but for most months we're there three or four times a month.  I

Outdoor range = Have a BIG range bag. You'll need it.

Indoor range = Have a smaller bag.

No one range bag is going to do it all for you.

I guess I'm just a cheap bastard but I use a bucket most of the time.  I put my ammo, targets, staple gun, box of extra staples, electronic muffs, gloves, pistols in LAPG pistol cases, and w/e else that fits in there.  I have a LAPG bag that has some more stuff in it too, but most of the time I fill up the bucket and take just it.  I can use it as a seat and as a brass collection container.

For rifles, I just have a bunch of hard plastic cases I've gotten for free with guns over the years.  I've got a few plano pelican like cases, a random soft case for an AR-15, and dedicated pelican cases for my precision rifles.
