What's the best way to remove the "fragrance" from a PC that has seen extensive time in the stan?

Leave it out in the sun, or strip your  essential gear off and take it in the shower. I'm lazy and it is combat gear after all.

I strip it all down, launder it, and put it all back together.  A pain in the ass, yes.  But I only have to do it occasionally and I don't run the risk of it not drying fully behind pouches and such, leaving me to smell mildew every time I put it on.  I hate mildew smells.

I like this idea!

It's stripped down now, but I think I might try the shower idea first. If only I can find a cookie.

I've used a device called a washing machine.  You put stinky things in, add soap, and put it on start.  There's a lot of water and suds and spinning and shit, and about an hour later you have wet garments that are clean.  Depending on the material they are made of, you can out them into another machine called a Dryer, or you can simply put them out side to dry.

I'll have to try this as my MBAV has soft armor sewn in, so I can't just throw it in the washer.

One reason I had kids

Hose and scrub brush.  Air dry.

For armor follow the directions.  Usually wipe down with damp cloth and air dry.

YMMV,
Rob

Sweet, thanks.  I'll try scrubbing it down with a tire brush first, and then hit it with some of this stuff after it dries.

My wife will be wearing this PC, so it has to be pretty damn odor-neutral - and she would not take kindly to me dumping it in the washer.

I think some of that de-odorizing stuff is similar to the sprays they use for martial arts and workout gear. You could try some of that found at your local gym supply store.

Natures miracle is a enzyme spray for cat smells.  It should work for this application as well.
