Aside from the pilot's gloves, and Mechanix, what other gloves do you guys reccomend?  I tried on some 5.11's yesterday, and they were some big gnarly rubber ones, that had zero dexterity.  I could not ever shoot a gun with them.

What gloves are out there, that are tough (maybe leather), but offer some operational ability still?  Thanks for the input.

You named the two most popular ones.

My current favorite is the Outdoor Research Ironsight Combat Glove.

They are a bit strange in that they are impregnated all over with little grippy diamonds but after a little bit of break-in they are pretty neat.

I prefer camelback gloves, they are expensive gloves that can be had on the cheap. usually have the word "FROG" or "USMC" in the name somewhere.

Just got a pair of these a week or so ago, no actual shooting with them yet, but "playing around" they felt good.

Hatch SOG L's (wrist length) are probably my favorite gloves I've had. Great dexterity, tough and durable, great grip on the fingers

Oakley Assault Gloves (hard knuckle) are pretty good, and feel great in a hot environment. Awesome as long as you don't have to reach into your pocket to dig something out.

I kinda like my OR's but they seem like they're lacking in the grippiness department

Blackhawk SOLAG gloves: I've owned 2 pairs, and they were fantastic! Until they both fell completely apart after about a month of daily wear. Really nice if you're going to use them on occasion, but I'd most definitely not try to depend on them for combat/rugged duty

Skd are really nice, the conductive pad falls a little akward on mine for iphone use, but great feel and dexterity. Protection wise, mine have virtually no coverage over the wrist though.

I've also become a big fan of these as well.

+1. I get a lot of compliments about mine. Only thing is the palms dont ventilate very well. I'm interested in trying out the SKD gloves. I've also used Blackhawk! SOLAG HD with Kevlar, and they served me well and for a long time, but they're bulky and not well suited for pistol play. However, if you're planning on heading to douchebagistan any time soon I'd urge you to consider them. They'll take a beating.
