When the units you control have gear given to them from numerous different suppliers who never thought to talk to each other you get a wide variety of stuff. I'm betting he controls different units and each one uses a different radio with different freqs/codes etc. He might not be able to just change the channel and talk to his subordinates. |

His radios run different things and work for different purposes. I will say this dude is most certainly a card carrying badass. |

I respect the good ANA/ANP guys. Knowing that we are drawing down and will be gone sooner than later, they have to be nuckin futs to do what they do. Don't get me wrong, most of the ones I dealt with were dipshits and assholes to the highest degree; but a few of them were people that I actually hope survive the next decade.

So how long until some of our resident gear queers start carrying two Baofengs? ![]() |

Noticed the same thing. There is a big ass map all folded up and placed front and center on his kit underneath the sternum strap, and a compass dangling right over the top of that. Actually looking at the picture is for losers |

seems like a lot of stuff and not easy to get to either. like that magazine under his right armpit, behind the flashlight, and behind the strap and radio. hope he never has to reload in a gunfight! Well, he gets into plenty of them, so i'm sure he's figured something out by now. |
|
What's in the large green tube in front of his magazines on the right side? And the white canister on his left side down low? Is that some kind of grenade?
And those mags look like they are awful hard to access. He has his rifle slung on the right so I'm assuming he will be holding his rifle in his right hand. I usually use my left for reloads... |

Its always funny to see how some react to what a real world fighter looks like.
He doesn't need to reload quickly. In a gunfight he'll be hunkered down behind a rock or vehicle using those radios to move his guys into position and explaining in broken English to his counterparts where they will be on his map that people think he can't use. I'll bet he would do no better or worse than your average specialist on a landnav course but in his AO he can probably go anywhere without a map, compass and GPS but he has all of those because he has to work with people (US) that aren't as familiar with the area as he is. All the gear he has was either given to him or thrown out and he found it and put it to work. It's not like these guys can order from SKD or tactical tailor. I bet he'd love to have a nice new multicam chest rig but his money either goes to his men, his family or to pay off his "superiors." These guys might not do well in a 3gun match or at an EIB competition but they have experience. I'd bet with some real formal training and education (if he doesn't already have it) he'd make a great leader. Don't underestimate these guys. |

I usually use my left for reloads... the green canister is the plastic tube of a signal flare of some kind. Inside is an aluminum tube with a star cluster or parachute flare of some color. The white thing actually looks like foot powder but I have no idea. He probably does use his left for reloads you can see mags under his gear. Pull the new mag straight up and then knock the empty mag out and rock the new one in. |

Quoted: in his AO he can probably go anywhere without a map, compass and GPS I'm guessing that they didn't all wander around lost before we showed up with GPS units. He probably uses some crazy tribal voodoo that allows him to associate the terrain he sees with where he needs to go. |

Although it is true that the green canisters contain different flares you have to remember who has it. It might contain a flare or it might be a reused piece of gear that an american threw out that he can use. I have seen them used for rifle cleaning kits and once I saw a guy open it up to have ak ammo come spilling out that he used to load up a magazine. |

Ive never seen a GP25 grenade that wasn't already shot at me so like I said no clue. Better guess than foot powder though! Youre right about the flare canister being anything too. I know the ANA and IP guys had like 2 or three magazines if they were lucky and always asked us for more ammo (556 and 762). Constantly reloading from a pocket or canteen pouch. Its funny but also kinda sad too.
