First I would like to say thanks to everyone who post here. There is a wealth of info here and I've learned a lot. I started working awhile back on putting together a plate carrier set up. I went with an Eagle Ciras. I have been buying mag pouches and various other items to make it functional but now it's time to buy the armor/plates for it. I am planning on buying the BALCS armor from SKD so that seems easy enough. My question is about the plates for my carrier. I am wanting to stay away from steel to save weight.
So I have a friend of a friend that has some plates he's wanting to sell. I know nothing about the subject so here the question. Are these plates legal to buy? I ask due to what appears to be US military numbers on it. Also I assume these plates to be ceramic? And lastly what is a fair price for them if hey are legal to purchase?
