I keep hearing to get a really good belt if you plan to conceal carry. I've been carrying for about 3 years now and have made do with cheapo leather belts from chain stores but I'm interested in getting something better. I need 1.5" and I'd like it to look half way decent, not to mall tactical cop like. What do you suggest? I don't really want to wait 4 months to get it either but I'm open to all suggestions.

I love my Wilderness Instructor belt but if you are set on leather maybe check out The Beltman . For a more budget friendly option you might want to check out the Galco.

This is stiff enough to carry my 7.5" Freedom Arms model 83 at a light  54oz all day in comfort, it does wonders for a normal ccw size handgun.

Bought a 5.11 kydex reinforced leather belt. It's not nearly as comfy as my cheapo Old Navy belt.

I wear the black & tan Ares Ranger belt whether I'm carrying or not.  If I do carry, the C-clips on my holster blend right in with the black part and don't cross the tan part, which makes it very hard to notice.

A better belt USA for leather or a DSG Alpha.  Both serve me well.

Comp-tac Contour belt. Had mine for 5 years and it's still awesome.

Having worn leather belts for a while, I realized they suck. Nylon belts with velcro have so much more freedom of adjustment. I use spec ops riggers belts, but the wilderness and areas Ranger belts are very nice.

I'm going to give the wilderness instructor belt a go. I'll report back my thoughts when I get it. Thanks for the suggestions everybody. Hopefully I will be pleased with a nylon belt.

I'm sure you will be, I have a Wilderness Instructor CSM belt and love it. I bought it in June 2010 and have worn it every day unless I had to dress up. or was wearing a shirt tucked in jeans (rare) and wanted a brown leather belt just for looks. It has held up wonderfully, used it in the police academy as the inner belt for my duty gear and will be using it as the same when I start working the road here in a few days.

Ok, I asked the same question on here...or maybe I read a similar thread...anyway, I went with The Beltman and after I received the first one I bought several more in the different styles and colors.  Now, I wear a suit to work so I have a few Beltmans in 1 1/4" and also a few Galco in 1 1/4".  I'm at the point now where every belt I have is either Beltman or Galco (about 8 of them).  Oh, and for super casual I have a couple of Ares gear.

I've been using the Wilderness 5 stitch instructor belt since 2004ish.  You will not be disappointed.  Their belts are awesome.  I just wish they'd make one with the Cobra buckle.

Have worn Milt Sparks belts for the past 20 years. I have a few different colors and styles. The waiting list is long, but well worth the time and money. My first was worn daily for almost 10 years before I semi-retired it. I still have it, but its been moved to the construction and "gonna get muddy" line of clothing.

There are a list of options, but one of my favorites is the thick belt which tapers to the edges. It allows a thicker and stiffer belt, but will still thread into smaller loops than a full thickness belt.

I received my Wilderness 5 stitch instructor belt today. Fits great and looks pretty good for a nylon belt. I must say right out of the box new it is very comfortable. I don't need to constantly pull up on my G26 in my CTAC to raise it from drooping, that puppy is staying put and that makes concealing pretty comfortable. I don't have to over tighten the belt in order to keep in place like my leather belt which dropped in between the belt loops and needed cinched pretty good to keep it in place. I think I'm going to like it.

I like the Galco CB$ or CB3 belts. They have a wide part like 1.5" that narrows down in front, so they look like a dress belt from the front. The problem with any leather belt is they stretch. The nylon belts like the different riggers belts don't have that problem, but they tend to look like gun belts.

I bought an Amish belt as an interim belt until I decided which dedicated CCW belt I wanted. Then I liked it so much I decided to just replace it when it wears out.

Damn thing just refuses to wear out....
