I am wanting to get a vest for general use and SHTF. I do Armed Security but I am not a LEO. I am looking for price range for Carriers and options that are solid and NOT cheap. Buy quality and never have to buy again. I do have body armor I wear at work for my vest so wondering if that can fit into some carriers, but must just use plates.

Are you looking to accommodate soft armor or just rifle plates?

I'd look at the Shellback Banshee for the best bang for your buck on a plate carrier.

If you're just looking for a vest to wear over existing armor, that all depends on what you want/need to carry.
I can't imagine you wanting or needing to carry many rifle mags but the PIG Universal Chest Rig might be a good fit.

I was thinking maybe 6 to 8 mags for carry. Was not too sure of wearing the body armor under or int the carrier.

What kind of armor do you have?

You can have everything on your armor carrier. You can also layer it by wearing a chestrig over your armor. Just depends on you.

What I should've asked is what cut is the armor?

No experience with the carrier listed. Someone else may have used it.

Its the standard police issued armor worn by local PD. Dunno the cut bc I bought it used and the tags were taken out for Liability reasons because it was close to expiration date.

Am I reading correctly that you want soft armor and plates together?

6-8 rifles mags? Private stateside security or invading Fallujah...? 3 rifle mags tops IMHO - light, discreet and fast.

You can always wear your soft armor under your clothing, like normal, and wear a plate carrier over your clothing.
