New to ARF.com and was interested in everyone's opinion on a reliable chest rig under $100. I'm not ready for a plate carrier just yet, I think that's something for down the road. I'm interested in something that'll carry 6 mags, I've found various brands on Amazon, but not sure. Any and all suggestions welcome.

The SKD Pig UCR is based on the older Eagle/SKD Universal which was widely regarded an a great starter chest rig.

This is a perfect set-up for someone new who doesn't know alot about gear but wants quality and functionality.  It's well designed and will work great.  I second this recomendation.

-be careful with amazon or you may end up with airsoft crap.

Works pretty good for former Airborne Infantry SSG's too.

What purpose will your chest rig serve?

I'm not asking you justify why you think you need one (that always seems to lead to hurt feelings) just if it's going to be something you deploy to a war zone with, have in the trunk, use in a rifle course, just want to have something simple and handy to carry mags, etc.  What kind of magazines are you planning to carry?  5.56 AR?  7.62 AK?

If you are looking for something more modular that you can grow with and change around, you couldn't go wrong with a tactical tailor MAV:

I have the Tactical Tailor Mini Mav with TT 3 Mag Pouch and single pouch, making four mags in a single layer across. Very comfortable.

Buy the MAV and never look back. For a cheap alternative to TT's mag pouches, Condor's stuff is good enough and half the price. Similar design as well.

TT's pouches aren't expensive to begin with, so why go with something with as sketchy a track record as Condor?

ATS 5.56 Split Front Chest Harness
Just saw this new chest rig from ATS. Very similar to the Bravo Co. 03.

Just this week I was looking at all of the offerings in chest rigs. These days there are many makers who are producing pretty cheesy stuff as well as some making the high grade products. You cannot tell them apart by looking at internet descriptions or pictures.

I had made decisions, but found the products I wanted were not in stock. The "suppliers" had not delivered them to the supposed manufacturers. I prefer to buy from manufacturers and authorized reps to avoid the myriad fakes.

So I gave up and went straight to the London Bridge Trading web pages. lbtinc.com
I found their prices had been reduced, so I made a few email inquiries with Customer Support, LBT Customer Support not only responded immediately with solid and helpful info, they gave me a code for a steep discount as well.
Before I was through, I had ordered the 6 mag low profile chest rig I had set out to get, and I got a 1961G as well.

I suggest you start with LBT and see what price you can realize in one of their top notch low profile rigs - I bet you can get very close to $100, or see the more expensive combat chest rigs they produce.
