I managed to get a good deal on an XL sized ACH a while back, but it was too small for my dome and I ended up giving it to one of my LE friends... since then I've been looking for something that fits off and on.   Had another buddy point me at Ops Core and after recovering from sticker shock, I looked through their product list, used their measurement table, and saw they actually made something that fits my freakishly huge dome.  Only problem is that the one model they make in XXL is the Sentry, but there are no sources I can find for one.

Any clue where I might be able to get my hands on a XXL Sentry ACH?

Head measurements, in case anyone asks:

Circumference:  24 1/2  (XXL)
Chinstrap: 29 (XL)

I saw TNVC carried the other OPS-Core models but they don't carry the Sentry and only plan on carrying it "in the future."

Figured I'd ask the tech forums if anyone has a clue where I might be able to get one?

Sorry, don't have any info on the Sentry, but if you are interested:

Botach has an e-bay sale on MSA TC2000 helmets (basically the same as ACH, I believe). I know....BOTACH? I have never had a problem with them and these e-bay helmets are "in stock"..you can see how many are left when you put them in your "watch" list. These helmets are on several websites (including Botach's) for $499. The sale price is $189.99 with free shipping and no tax. They have only size XL in black with 1/2 inch pads or OD green with either 1/2 or 3/4 inch pads. I have a large head (hat size 7 3/4). I just received my black helmet with 1/2 inch pads and it is huge! I think this helmet with 1/2 inch pads is supposed to fit someone with a hat size of 8 (or bigger?) . I am going to have to buy some 1 inch pads because I think with 3/4 inch pads it would still be too big!

If you care to take a look, listing is under "MSA TC2000 Level IIIA Ballistic Helmet" (item # 390539931375)

What size hat do you wear?

You can find thinner pads, rearrange them, etc. I have a hard time believing you have a head that wont fit in an XL.

Trying a thinner pad like the Team Wendy Epic helmet pads or the Epic Air pads might work for you. TNVC sells them and they rock. Just see if one of your buddies has them and try that XL helmet.
I wear a small helmet with thin pads instead of the medium I should run with.

The Sentry was debuted a while back but they haven't hit the open market as of yet. You could always find a small car and hollow it out for decent protection, then if you run into more bad guys than you can handle, just duck and cover like a turtle in it's shell.

LOL, thanks guys :P  I knew all the money I've tossed at you guys was well spent

My head is really an odd shape and I know this is going to sound odd.  When I was active duty Navy, I wore a 7 1/2 because the 7 3/4 didn't quite sit on my head right....

Yet the XL sized ACH I had, even without the pads fit stupid funny.  For a lack of a better explanation and I know this doesn't sound right, but  if I fiddled with everything to get it off my neck/back of my head, then the front lip would be riding right between my eyebrows.   Even going padless didn't really work well, especially with my PVS-14 mounted.

On the funny side, I bitched about this to a buddy who didn't quite believe me.  and when I demonstrated the fit to him, he was all and called me Sloth.  I was all "Yeah, thanks First Sergeant."  With friends like these...

I saw the thread title, and then your avatar, and got worried. Glad it's just a sizing issue.

Try thinner pads like others said.  My ACH has a mix of issued pads and bicycle helmet pads in it to get the right fit.  Ten times more comfortable and sits much lower, actually does its job, with the pads like that.

As far as thinner pads go, they don't help, my dome is just too big.  Army friend of mine had no small amount of jokes when I demonstrated the fit issues for him.

On the plus side, TNVC told me they plan on carrying the Sentry at some point in the future, so maybe there's hope for me yet.

Dude, you must look like Darth helmet with with a XXL. My head is a 7 3/8 and sometimes I think my large is too big.

...Pics?

Since it's not just the size, but the shape of your melon you say makes it difficult sizing the helmet, how about find yourself that xxl helmet and then use a combination of different sized pads for a good fit. You might have get a couple different sized pads and mix and match or do something custom with padding not specifically made for that particular helmet. This all reminds me when I am fitting football helmets on the kids at my sons team. Some pads are able to be swapped, while some inflate/deflate for a bigger/looser fit. My son got a tall, but thin head. He gets a large helmet so his chin is protected, but I can't inflate the side pads so the helmet is safely snug on him, so I have to take the side and/or ear pads out of a bigger helmet to fit the narrowness of his face.

+1, 90% of the military wears a medium.
