| I'm a big guy. 6'4" about 280. I need to find a PC that will fit me over the top of my uniform with soft armor. I prefer a rig that is not just a hard plate carrier and could be used for off duty response as a stand alone unit as well. Thanks for any input! |

There are many good options out there. This is just one. While waiting for other responses. Check out the various versions of the Hugger. They are also coming out with a Plate Only Hugger. All of this can be made custom to you and your armor and that is a plus. Good luck |

Eagle PC w/ cummerbund over IIIa panel carrier. This is the set up I currently use. Its gonna be a little bulky, but for what you are asking that seams unavoidable. Ill assume you are either a LEO or .mil. Id recommend rethinking what you are trying to do. You are already a huge mofo, so getting in and out of vics is gonna be an issue. Look towards going as slick as possible for the sake of mobility.
Are you big in the right way or big in the wrong way? Regardless, you need to look at dropping some weight, if only for your buddy/partners sake. Im a big one too, 6'2"/230 and while I maintain a excellent balance between strength, speed, and endurance, that doesnt help the 5'9" 160 feather weights that would have to buddy up to move my disabled body. Im constantly fighting to keep my weight down for everyone elses sake as well as my own. With all your kit on you are looking at being atleast 325lb or more likely a lot more. Moving you even with pair would be difficult and slow. This may not be acceptible given the circumstances you might find yourself fighting in. Good luck! |

What I think you are describing is you would wear the soft panels in a separate carrier, I.e., under a uniform shirt (yes I'm LEO). Then the plates in a stand alone eagle pc? I imagine if I got standalone plates the pc could be used as a standalone unit. But otherwise would I lose coverage from where my soft armor rides, if I didn't have it on and only used the pc? I'm not overly concerned with bulk as this would be donned outside my vehicle and I wouldn't be entering/ exiting said vehicle over and over. I'm big mostly in the right way with some wrong way mixed in lol. If that makes sense. I've already started dropping weight for that very reason (smaller buddies trying to move me). Thanks for the input. I had been eyeballing eagle pc's but unsure where to find the best deal. |

You can also use non-stand alone plates and put the IIIa panels behind the plates. Yeah it will be a double layer of IIIa, but its an option. Sounds like you are already on the right track in terms of fitness and weight management. I got my plate carrier right here, practically brand new. Lord knows how many people buy a brand new PCs, wear it once or twice and then sell it here for 2/3 the original price. |
