All,

I have a Mystery Ranch Mountain ruck that I like a lot, problem is it's made of 500D, which on the bottom is getting a little worn from being pulled in and out of various vehicles during my military training...

Was thinking of coating just the bottom with some Rhino Liner type material or something along those lines to just protect the bottom... Any ideas or thoughts on this?

Black RTV

You can get it at autozone.  Reapply as needed.  Rhino Liner might be too stiff and crack.

Good point on the cracking, but to coat a 2x2 area that's a lot of RTV?

How about the Plasti Dip?  They sell a spray and I'm not sure about the price.  You might have to experiment with it a little.

Yeah I was just looking at that... say's its flexible and not brittle, guess I could pick a can up and try it on a pouch for a test...

Try it...Take some pictures...post here.
That way everyone will know if it works or not.  This will happen to everyone's gear if they use it enough.  It's a lot cheaper to try than replacing  the pack.

will do, I talked to Mystery Ranch about the need to use 1000D on the bottoms of the packs and was told thanks...... May be the reason I am moving back to Kifaru... a lot tougher...

Flexseal like from the commercials. I've used it on a few things,  not fabric though.  Should work well for you.
