Ok so I will be purchasing some plates in the next day or so and am wondering which of the following I should go with.
Velocity Systems Level III (Stand Alone) and Level IV (ICW) Armor Plate or Velocity Level IV Stand Alone Armor Plate They will be going in either an SKD PIG PC or a Mayflower APC size Medium. I understand that the Velocity Systems plates are a perfect fit pretty much with the APC but how about the PIG? I will also be using plate backers with either of these eventually so I'm not sure if the weight and extra cost of the level IV plates is worth it but then again I don't want to get something I would want to upgrade later on. These will also be personal use only so no LE/MIL duty. |

The PIG PC will fit all ESAPI/SAPI cut plates from a size small to extra large. The PIG and the APC are my two favorite PC's out there. You really can't go wrong in either respect - really it comes down to which features you want or need.
Velocity Systems makes some great armor too so again no complaints there. As far as Level IV vs Level III that generally comes down to a cost vs need vs performance. I personally wear Level III ICW plates with backers when deployed. My personal kit has Level IV plates with backers. Other than those variations both kits are the same. SOS |

What is the cost of the plates your looking at? I just got the maxpro level iv multi hits (manufactured by ceradyne) for 325 shipped for the set. Do you have a source for these at that price? Thanks Galls they are running 20 percent off right now and free shipping so it should come out to 320 shipped. ETA: Use promo code EMHEART at checkout. Sale is on for another day or so. |
